The Reading Room
Feb. 24th, 2009 02:51 pmThe response to our first shared fic has been just amazing; Devil's advocates and confirmed romantics, critics and linguists, and even a poll on fave pairings (over at
What we don't have yet is a rec for next weekend.
Being undemocratic as ever, the first rec received as a comment to THIS POST will be it. In my post last week, I asked for recs before 8 pm GMT Tuesday (today) as the deadline, but please don't feel bound by that.
The only condition is that the fic must be available online. Slash is strongly preferred, but I'm sure that goes without saying.

Date: 2009-02-24 04:10 pm (UTC)Next question is, how do you want to play this? Do you want to do the main post for Thursday, or leave it to me?
In setting this up, I thought it would be good if the person who names the fic would write a short rec, to start off the discussion, but don't feel obliged. If you do, it should be posted to CI5hq rather than your lj, in order to keep all the comments together.
Still feeling my way here... Let me know what you think.

Okay. Sure. I'll write up something brief. I'll start by learning to spell the title of the fic correctly. *g*

I found Labyrinth (correct spelling?)at The Circuit Archive. It would be helpful if you know of anywhere else it appears, such as a zine, to add that.

Date: 2009-02-26 10:32 am (UTC)Have cheated and read the fic (more than half anyway) and am wildly impressed with it. Can't wait to read to the end now.

Date: 2009-02-26 03:59 pm (UTC)Yes, but now I'm getting confused. Do you want it Wednesday evening, which would be late -- I can post now, though -- or Thursday evening.
I had it in mind you wanted Thursday evening.

Date: 2009-02-26 04:00 pm (UTC)Fascinating, isn't it? It's a long fic, maybe people SHOULD start reading right away.

Date: 2009-02-26 04:19 pm (UTC)Sorry if I confused you, it seemed straightforward to me because I was writing on Thursday morning (this morning).
The reason for Thursday was that the weekend is probably when people have more time to read and write, but starting Thursday pm gives people more chance to download or print out (at work even).
You do the main post then, I'll leave you to it (apart from commenting, of course) then I'll do a post on Tuesday next week to invite a new rec for next week.
Have spent the last couple of hours illicitly finishing the fic, now tingling all over and finding it difficult to concentrate on work.

Makes sense. I was half awake when I read the message.

Yes. Good idea.

Sounds good. Done!
