My rec is quite different from macklingirl story yesterday - it's not an easy read, but I like this kind of story, with a bit of an emotional roller coaster and a lot of strong characters in addition to Bodie and Doyle.

After a bad op, in which Doyle almost dies, Bodie decides to leave CI5. Doyle goes home to his family for Christmas, trying to recover from physical and emotional injuries. Can Bodie really leave? Should Doyle follow him or let him go?

I like this one a lot. I first read it during the summer because it was one of the desert island fics chosen at Bistocon. It is good at any time of year, though. I agree that its supporting characters are one of its strengths.

I love this story. It's hard, though, for me to connect the memories of the different parts of it in my head. So I get to the postcard or the angel, and say "Oh! That one!" I don't know why.
