I've finally had time to start reading Never Far Apart.

Currently enjoying Between Folly and Love by Josey -- good meaty story, very well written, and my favourite genre -- ER leading (I'm confident) to emotional first time.

Oh! I am new to the list and just having a chance to look around. I come to Pros by way of The Circuit Archive, and I think I discovered the archive one day, a few years ago, while looking for new and interesting slash to read. *fans self* Found it.

So, I am very interested in what everyone is reading, as well as what they would recommend. And, overall, how did they find themselves here and interested in The Professionals.

What do members consider Pros staples and must reads? (Should I use this response as a new post?)

And, thanks for reminding me! One of my fave Pros story is 'There's An Old Mill...' by O Yardley. I want to read that again.

Um... /ramble.

Hi and welcome.

Hmm must-reads in Pros. I would say anything by O Yardley and Sebastian is a must - well, early Sebastian anyway. All Sally Fell's stuff is fabulous too. All Georgina Kirrin's work.

Professional Dreamer by Pamela Rose; Trick of the Trade by Melanie Athene; A Chat With Father by Anne Higgins; Fly On The Wall by Lezlie Conch; Birdwatchers Guide to Cornish Ghosts, Cider with Bodie, Join The Queue, The Victorian Kitchen Gardener - all by Lizzie.

Think that might be enough to be going along with :-)))) Hope you like my reccs, anyway. But it's very subjective depending on what your tastes are.

I'm being quiet because I'm re-reading Rob's Waiting To Fall. It is totally unputdownable!

Actually the more I read, the more I *want* to read. How bad is that? I'm falling way behind on my ordinary book reading, because I just want slash! LOL

That's what I'm reading at present, although it's the first time for me. Enjoying it immensely!

I've only *just* started to watch The Pros, join communities and read fic. I'm most of the way through a quick viewing of season 1 (minus a couple of eps I haven't been able to find.) I know there's tons of fic, vids, etc. out there and I'm really anticipating getting into it. So far I've just read [livejournal.com profile] dorcas_gustine and [livejournal.com profile] bistokids' LoM/Pros crossover series (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/cgi-bin/search.cgi?ShortResults=1&Title=&Title_Range=0&Author=Dorcas%20Gustine&AuthorRange=0&Original_Publication=&Summary=&Date=0&SizeRange=0&SortBy=1&SortOrder=0&NumToList=0&Exact=1). Very hot and sweet - but perhaps too focused on Life on Mars for some of the folks here? Anyway, I've seen mentions of The Pros practically since I got online in '95, so it's pretty exciting to finally "get in on the action." ::grin::

Well himself & I have just finished watching Season 1 of Life on Mars (late, yeah, I know!) so I re-read [livejournal.com profile] dorcas_gustine and [livejournal.com profile] bistokids's 3x LoM/Pros crossovers, which are fab (although someone really needs to follow our lads home in the last one *g*). Would love to see some more *hint*.

I'm reading Jane's "Affairs of the Heart" excruciatingly slowly, maybe 3 or 4 pages a night because it's all I can take *g*. But I got the zine, so...

'Never Far Apart' - I've read "Raymond's Joy" about 3 times, because it's such a wonderful story. And I'm going to re-read "Far Shore" next, because I have such mixed feelings about it, try to tease out which bits work for me & which don't, and why.

*Hides in a corner* No Pros reading at the moment except for new fics popping up. Too busy reading real books o.O Right now I'm into The Book of the Dead by Preston & Child.

I've put Never Far Apart aside finally, after rereading it god knows how many times. Love it all, my most reread ones are Raymond's Joy and Far Shore, I think. I'm dipping into a bit of HG fic-wise right now, and The Kite Runner book-wise.

Okay... So tastes vary wildly. I didn't care for Larton myself, and in that vein, I'll walk out on a limb and I'll be honest. What I'm reading (and you guys will probably throw fruit at me) is I've been going through the archive and CD on recs from a nice gal and reading every BDSM story I can. So far, I've read Grievous Bodily Harm series by M Fay Glasgow (circuit), Game for Two Players by Jane (circuit, my fav so far), Panoramic View by Edi N Burgh (circuit, M Fay in disguise), Bondage by Lainie Stone (CD).

Yeah, BDSM is a kink of mine, so I'll take rec's for consensual stories with B/D only, intensity is not a problem. So how do I go from mush and romance, which I love, to BDSM, my second fav type of story? Go figure.

Well, I'm ambivalent on the Larton side of things. I liked the first, but I had enough country living as a kid (even if not in the Cotswolds) to do me, so the sequels paled a bit. I can do without WTF as well. BDSM, though - now you're talking!

Kitty Fisher's 'Monopoly' was one of my first reads, and remains a favourite. Try her AU 'The Alchemist's Measure' as well (the sequel is also BDSM, but I think the storyline is weaker at the end).

Others:
- And Learn to Fly by Blackbird
- Deadly Nightshade by Gloria Lancaster
- There's No Place by Josey
- M Fae's Snowbound duo of stories, although one of them is non-con.

I think the one I like most is Object of Desire by Courtney Gray, although the BDSM is secondary to the relationship development (it's not listed as BDSM on any story lists AFAIK).

It's a fair cop, guv. Guilty as charged...

So... what's everyone reading?

Been reading 'Redemption' for the past few days and it's got me by the scruff of the neck. Really putting me through the wringer, but I'm not complaining cos I'm loving every minute of it.

I've just finished reading the zine Leather and Blue Jeans and catching up with Melanie Athene's back catalogue plus her new WIP.

TBH, Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows is foremost on my mind at the mo, I just can't wait to read it. *g*

What's everyone reading? Hmm... interesting question - love everyone's responses! Perhaps you could do a poll that shows if people are reading zines or online stories at the minute, to see what the trend is!

I guess I am just reading what new things crop up online at the moment, usually through the DIALJ challenges and the safehouse, rather than the fic archives. Oh, and enjoying Cras Tibi - asymphototropic's WIP *g*

Because this morning the postman bought me the Pros Archive CD, kindly sent by Frances, I`m in heaven... reading nonstop since nine hours. After plundering the Circuit Archive since January, I`m now reading the stories not listed there. Probably for the rest of the week...
And I have no bad coincidence at all!!! for neglecting husband and daughter That`s what pre-cooked food in the fridge is for (Mental note: add to the items on the "Survive-a-Pros-reading-binge-list")!
