My rec is quite different from macklingirl story yesterday - it's not an easy read, but I like this kind of story, with a bit of an emotional roller coaster and a lot of strong characters in addition to Bodie and Doyle.

After a bad op, in which Doyle almost dies, Bodie decides to leave CI5. Doyle goes home to his family for Christmas, trying to recover from physical and emotional injuries. Can Bodie really leave? Should Doyle follow him or let him go?

This is the first fic I thought of when considering what I might contribute to the Advent calendar. It is a favorite of mine, sweet but not cloying, with a little melancholy mixed in.
