As the shadows lengthen on a May evening, all of us at the Reading Room would like to say a big thank you to firlefanzine for reccing "Long Shadows" by NN West.

Now the fic for this week is "Spring-heeled Jack" by Georgina Kirrin (recced byjgraeme2007), at:

Because, IMHO, it's just a perfect piece of writing. It's funny, full of the lads and the other CI5 agents winding each other up, sex, banter and it is just brilliant.

I wonder if there's any chance you could post the places we can find the stories at the same time you announce them? I'm away a lot and want to read everything recced even if I can't actually participate in the discussion - I can always skim the discussion later and I'm finding the whole thing really adds to my experience of fic-reading!! (Wildly grateful, etc. etc.) I looked for Elizabeth Holden in Circuit Archive and Automated Hatstand and she wasn't there... (I found Lezlie Conch) I'll probably be away by the time byslantedlight tells us where to find the story and whilst she's on my f'list and I can ask her I can see this being a problem again - and again!! If it isn't possible for all sorts of technical or other reasons, just say so, but just in case you hadn't thought about it, this is a heartfelt plea!!

Shouldn't be a problem. I posted the link for 'The Cook and the Warehouseman' well in advance because it's so long, but happy to do that for all.

As far as I recall, 'Voiceover' is the only one yet (apart from 'Spring-heeled Jack') where you haven't been able to just go to Hatstand or Circuit Archive. In fact I need to go back to one of byslantedlight's posts to find out where it is - it must be online, I've read it.

Thanks! Hope I'm not being a nuisance and that it isn't a lot of extra work. I'm enjoying it all so much - and if it isn't on one of the two obvious sites I won't find it! I'm so glad all the reccs are online because I don't buy zines or CDs - I'm somewhat multi-fandom so that's a decision I came to quite early on!!

I think Voice-Over is actually by Elizabeth O'Shea and is at the Hatstand and the Circuit Archive. I know it's an old favourite of byslandtedlight so I'm pretty certain that's the one.

It has to be a principle of the Reading Room that fics are online, just to be accessible to everyone. I don't have any zines to call my own (yet) and have difficulty justifying buying them, especially when there is so much great fic online.
