[identity profile] constant-muse.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] ci5hq

As the shadows lengthen on a May evening, all of us at the Reading Room would like to say a big thank you to [info]firlefanzine for reccing "Long Shadows" by NN West.

Now the fic for this week is "Spring-heeled Jack" by Georgina Kirrin (recced by[info]jgraeme2007)
, at:
http://jess.inengland.googlepages.com/spring-heeledjack.

The fic is in three (linked) parts and the total length is 22,000 words.

You know the routine: The discussion starts when jgraeme posts later in the week.

Forthcoming Reading Room fics are:

28 May "Neon Nights" by Elessar (recced by[info]krisserci5

4 June   "The Cook and the Warehouseman" by Helen Raven (recced by [info]jgraeme2007)
The link for this novel is: http://www.kelper.co.uk/cook/index.html.

11 June "Voiceover" by Elizabeth O'Shea (recced by[info]byslantedlight)

18 June "Fly on the Wall" by Lezlie Conch (recced by[info]sc_fossil)

Hahhahah we were only discussing the fact that no one had recc'd Fly On The Wall at Nattercon! I am glad to see it has been *g*

Well, I just read it last week. I've got years of fic to read and I'm old and slow. *g*

(It's Lezlie, btw, esteemed mod. Thanks!)

I only wish I could write half as well.

No, that's fine. In fact, I posted over on one of the original notes last week or so that June 18th worked for me. You done good.

Because, IMHO, it's just a perfect piece of writing. It's funny, full of the lads and the other CI5 agents winding each other up, sex, banter and it is just brilliant.

I wonder if there's any chance you could post the places we can find the stories at the same time you announce them? I'm away a lot and want to read everything recced even if I can't actually participate in the discussion - I can always skim the discussion later and I'm finding the whole thing really adds to my experience of fic-reading!! (Wildly grateful, etc. etc.) I looked for Elizabeth Holden in Circuit Archive and Automated Hatstand and she wasn't there... (I found Lezlie Conch) I'll probably be away by the time [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight tells us where to find the story and whilst she's on my f'list and I can ask her I can see this being a problem again - and again!! If it isn't possible for all sorts of technical or other reasons, just say so, but just in case you hadn't thought about it, this is a heartfelt plea!!

Thanks! Hope I'm not being a nuisance and that it isn't a lot of extra work. I'm enjoying it all so much - and if it isn't on one of the two obvious sites I won't find it! I'm so glad all the reccs are online because I don't buy zines or CDs - I'm somewhat multi-fandom so that's a decision I came to quite early on!!

I think Voice-Over is actually by Elizabeth O'Shea and is at the Hatstand and the Circuit Archive. I know it's an old favourite of [livejournal.com profile] byslandtedlight so I'm pretty certain that's the one.

Thanks!! I suppose it's not only possible but likely to mix up Elizabeths - there are a lot of us about (I'm one, too)!
