The Reading Room - request for a fic
May. 9th, 2009 11:20 pmJust a quick reminder about the Reading Room. We have longer fics scheduled for the future, but still need fics for 21 May
The schedule is below:
14 May "Long Shadows" by NN West (recced by
firlefanzine)
21 May
28 May "Neon Nights" by Elessar (recced by
krisserci5)
4 June "The Cook and the Warehouseman" by Helen Raven (recced by
jgraeme2007)
The link for this novel is: http://www.kelper.co.uk/cook/index.html.
11 June A short fic (TBA) (recced by
byslantedlight)
The only condition is that the fic should be online, so everyone can get access to it. Slash (or gen) goes without saying, I hope, in this company.
Please comment to this post, or send me a message, if you would like to volunteer a fic.
(Edit: scheduling ahead is fun!)

Date: 2009-05-09 10:57 pm (UTC)I nearly put in my post 'for these weeks or for after 4 June' but didn't want to make it too complicated. Do you have a particular fic and date in mind? If so, I'll add it to the schedule.
Hm, I wonder how much Nattercon will affect the Reading Room this weekend? It will however be a consolation to those of us unlucky enough not to be attending.

Date: 2009-05-09 11:15 pm (UTC)Erm - from a rough count of the last fic discussion (Consequences), only 3/15 people who joined in will be at Nattercon, and that's not counting quite a few others who often join in but didn't that week, and won't be at Nattercon, so I think you should be good to go! *g*

Date: 2009-05-09 11:51 pm (UTC)I wasn't thinking of not having The Reading Room this coming weekend, just musing. But it is reassuring to know that participants in Nattercon and Reading Room do not perfectly or even substantially coincide.

Date: 2009-05-10 09:38 am (UTC)"Thanks very much.
It's Leslie Conch on Circuit Archive. I'm about halfway through reading it because I wanted to check if it was short enough for only one week's notice. It's great, I love the humour and the other agents stuff.
I'm happy with your idea to keep this in reserve and still look for other recs for the next two weeks."
So now it's Sunday, do you want to wait another day or two (since I only posted this last night), recc this week, or put it off until later in June?
It's all fine by me. : )

Date: 2009-05-10 09:24 pm (UTC)'The back half is better than the front on the story!' That's curious, I liked the beginning better, although no complaints about the denouement!
