It's wet and miserable where I am, but tonight is Burns Night so I thought I'd read Scottish-based fic today - and add it to the www.palelyloitering.com front page too. Only... I'm rubbish when it comes to thinking of specifics like this, so - has anyone got any Scotland-based Pros fic they'd recommend? Help!

ETA - so far I have "Brigadoon" by PFL, "Alone and Palely Loitering" by M.Fae Glasgow, and "Never the Words They Say" by someone or other. I've been resisting adding "The High Road" by M.Fae Glasgow (although I do love it) cos its a New Year one, but then it is in Scotland, so... *bungs it on* Oh, and "The Drowning Plains" by Bistokidsfan!

But there must be more!

I heartily support this suggestion, being myself a staunch fan of Scotland and Scots since I spent a week of vacation two years ago in Dunnoon on the river Clyde (came back the following year, and intend to repeat it this year), at my beta and friend [livejournal.com profile] dinahmt, who uses to say we are resuscitating the historical "Auld Alliance".

Of course it's not a contradiction that I love Gordon Jackson! By the way, where did you find this lovely picture and which show or event was it taken from?

I'd add that I'd like to read Cowley's centered fics, for my favourite episodes are the ones with heavy focus on Cowley.

Oh! So sorry I unwillingly deleted your replies; but you were too fast for me; I was desperately trying to fix Di T's screen name and making repeatedly the same typing mistake!

I'm going to look for Scottish themed fics now...

I suggest this one I recced long ago in [livejournal.com profile] crack_van:

The Rest Cure (or: Cowley's Week in the Country) by Ashlea (G)
Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Unknown

Why this must be read:

This short and amusing little story has its own, legitimate place in my Cowley's anthology; this time the Old Man is alone, I mean without his favourite team but actually with an old friend of him, and spending a well earned week of rest and vacation in a lodge not far from a loch, the Loch Ness, as it seems, though it is not named in the text.

Wandering alone along the banks of the Loch Ness may lead you to all sorts of strange encounters and... No, no, it's not exactly what you were thinking...though ?

The piece is too short to allow much more comments or quotations; I gave you all you need to know. You may be surprised, however. There is a very nice twist at the end; well, actually there are two!

I'm rubbish at this game. I've just spent ages trawling the Circuit for a Scotland story I love but couldn't remember the title or author. Turns out it's Never the Words They Say. I suspect you already have that one! Back to the drawing board. *resolves to bookmark better in future*

I've found Highland Comfort by Elspeth Leigh (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/13/highlandcomfort.html), if you want it for completeness. It's AU, no CI5 connection, and not a rec as such, just a Scotland-based fic I happened to spot. :)

I'm hopeless and can't remember the name, so this could be one of the ones you've already got listed, but there's one where they're on holiday in a b&b in Scotland and get involved in sorting out someone who it turns out pinched dynamite in order to go dynamiting fish ... ???

There's an M Fae Glasgow one where the lads accompany Cowley to Edinburgh. Argh! Blanking on the name, though . . .

Well-remembered! And now I must go and re-read it *g*.
