I tried to comment in your lj, but it wouldn't let me because we're not friended! (A bit remiss of me, perhaps!) Anyway, what I was going to say...
Oh it's been years and years since I saw TTSS, or any of the other spy series/movies! I loved them way back then, read all the books... *g*
Interesting comparisons too - I totally agree with you that the way they were filmed adds to their realism, though I suspect it was unintentional (from what I've read of Brian Clemens, he'd have loved to get all Hollywood about it...). Things are so bright and shiny now that it almost hurts to stop watching and come back to reality - instead of being left with "Maybe one day..." I'm more likely to be left now with "I'll never be able to do that..." which I think is completely the opposite of what tv/movies/books should be about!
I think puzzle boards were pretty standard back way back when, as ways of figuring out what's what - and when they were supassed by computers, which we saw coming in a bit in Pros, then they were no more... I don't think I expect the police etc to be very high-tech back then though, even CI5 - at least not more than the computers etc that we did see in Pros. Do you remember things differently, from Germany?

Ooops! I'm terribly sorry! I'm not a very social creature and rarely use my LJ for public posts, so there was no need to open up commenting up to now.

Thank God he couldn't, first for monetary and later on for administrative reasons!
"Things are so bright and shiny now that it almost hurts to stop watching and come back to reality - "
Absolutely. Though I'm not someone who permanently lives in the past and thinks everything was better way back when, a look back like that has quite its own charms and in many ways still keeps up with today's productions.
"I think puzzle boards were pretty standard back way back when, as ways of figuring out what's what - "
Really? I don't think I've ever seen one before and frankly, they do puzzle me more than clarify anything for me! ;)

Well, I meant high-tech for the time - even in the seventies there were buildings and office environments more shiny and modern than CI5 HQ first season.
I don't understand: why is this link leading to a protected entry since it's posted to a community? I am a member of this one, so it would be only fair that I'd be allowed to read any contribution sent by another member!
