Hi!

Since one month or so I´m looking around in LJ, and I´m quite overwhelmed what You can find here, if You follow one link after the other.
But I try to focus on pros stuff! I love reading FF. I prefer het or gen(is there a difference?), but also read slash. At the moment it´s Rob´s ´Waiting to fall´. And I wouldn´t be at page 150 of 688(!...) if I wouldn´t like it.
I myself write german het stories, but don´t think that there is a great audience here.
But it doesn´t matter! There is so much to find!
For the beginning I´ve posted some of my fav wallpapers, maybe You like them. I´ve already got some nice comments.
Feel free to tell, if I make mistakes concerning LJ rules, for I´m no good rules-reader! Sorry!

Hope this is the way to my : Journal

Beautiful wallpapers! I especially like the blue one of Bodie looking directly into the camera - lovely! And the multi-coloured one, too... Thank you for posting them - and welcome to the gorgeous world of Pros! *g*

I always think that the difference between het and get is that a "het" story focuses on a plot about the relationship between the lads and a girl, (where a "slash" story focuses on a plot about the relationship between Bodie and DOyle) and a "gen" story focuses on a plot that is not about anyone's relationship with anyone - it's more about whatever adventure they're having, usually a CI5 operation. But other people seem to define them according to whether there's actually physical sex in a story, so... (though that seems a strange definition to me!)

You'll probably find that most people at this comm prefer Pros slash, although I'm sure not everyone of course. There might even be some other Pros-het types out there, who are keeping very quiet... *g* I've got to admit that I don't like Pros het stories - and I won't read many gen stories either, because it's the relationship between Bodie and Doyle that I like! But if you can put up with talking slash too, then it's all good..! And someone might be able to point you in the direction of Pros genners and hetters online as well - I know there's a Yahoo group, and a website archive too, though I don't have the url with me here at work...

Looking forward to seeing more of your graphics - I bet you're ever so good at icons as well, eh? *vbg*

Oh - nearly forgot - I'm not sure what you mean by FF? Do you mean Female/Female stories? (I don't think there are many of them in Pros though, so it might not be that!) "Female Factor"? Erm...? Oh, Fanfic?! Help! *g*

Yes! Any female/female version of B/D would be soooooooooo wrong! What a terrifying thought! *g*

Are You all so bad??? Did You muzzle them ??? Must I be strong??? ;-)
Hee! You must be strong! *g* I think it's just that Pros started out as a slash fandom, way way back when the show was still airing, and it's mostly stayed that way. Because it's true! *vbg* But there are gen and het stories in the Circuit Archive, as mentioned below, and some on the ProsLib CD as well which is described here at Hatstand (http://hatstand.slashcity.net/proslib/intro.html). And I do come across gen/het sites now and then too. The big archive I was looking for doesn't seem to be online at the moment, I'm not sure what's happened to it (but maybe you know from the Yahoo group?

Apart from the ones mentioned by people below (and even I love LRH Balzer's stories!), I found a couple more for you:
Safehouse 13 (http://www.joulestaylor.com/fic/professionals/genindex.html)
Elsa's site (http://elsa.endoria.net/PROS/pros-htm/stories-overview.htm)

A lot to do for me next time - but I can´t loose the feeling, that You all try to get rid of me... Sigh!
Hey, I shall stop finding you links if you're thinking that! *g* (Then you'll be stuck here playing with the glorious slashiness, and my plan will have worked... ah, double-think!)

I'm forever looking up all these abbreviations in the dictionaries too!

Hi there and welcome. I'm another Germie hanging around here. I'm a slasher by heart and you'll never find me reading het *shudders* and gen only if it can't be avoided and the plot is real good. I definitely prefer a Doyle in a Bodie or vice versa *G*

But there ought to be enough het and gen fiction out there so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding them.

Anyway, enjoy LJ and the general Pros madness going around.

And I really like your wallpapers, especially the blue ones.Yup, I like blue *G*

The wallpapers are really nice. If you prefer gen stories, then the link below might suit you. It's about the only gen link I know for these guys. I'm fairly slash inclined myself. :-)

Beautiful wallpapers - your use of colour is excellent.

As for the 'het' 'gen' thing some people will say that there isn't a difference, no, as on the show they were dating women, thus it's gen. And it's one of those debates that is on-going and different web sites even denote them differently.

However, to my mind it's very simple:

Het - If the guys are involved *at all* with women in the story and it doesn't turn into it being a slash story (i.e. they get together) then it's het. It doesn't matter (to my mind) whether the focus of the story is the relationship or whether the relationship is a side-issue, the story is still het. After all, a story is considered to be slash even if it's 50 pages long and in that 50 pages the only reference to them being involved is a passing 'they were lovers' or if there's a line or two 'they went home and went to bed' and the rest of the story focuses on a case. Thus, if that's how slash is defined, then het should be defined as the same. My example doesn't make the slash story gen, thus the same should, IMO, apply if the relationship is male/female.

Gen - No romantic and/or sexual relationships between the guys and any one at all.

But other people differ. Some will say it's only het if the focus of the story is the relationship between male/female; others if it's on-screen sex at all; others something different. That's why I keep it simple and in effect define it exactly the same as slash but where slash = male/male (or female/female) no matter how little or how much, no matter whether it's on-screen or off, or if it's the focus or not, het is the same but just male/female.

Hello! Always nice to find a newbie coming to say hello and joining in :D

Great wallpapers, with a lovely use of colour.

I have to say personally I'm a dyed in the wool slasher; you won't find me anywhere near het or gen (although last night I *almost* was trapped into reading one!!! LOL) but I'm sure there are places where you can find gen and het.

Nice to meet you and keep posting!

Your wallpapers are very nice.

Can I ask a favour? Will you do the final Bodie in Blue one without the text from the episodes? I'd love to have a copy of that and I don't want to play with your work without your permission. It will look super on my other laptop which I have a blue background on.

Welcome to Pros. I am another OTP kind of gal, also no gen and/or het. Sorry! But since we all love the lads, it will work out.

Just call me Kat. It's easier.

OTP=one true pairing. Bodie and Doyle, without anybody else in the mix. *g*

Thanks!

Welcome aboard! Your wallpapers are lovely. I especially like the one second from the right, in blue, with the "Bodie" text.

As the others have already told you, Pros--at least on LJ--tends to be a fandom that skews towards slash. The Gil Hale link, though, is an excellent one. It was actually one of her stories that led me to Pros, which is ironic, seeing as that was a gen story, and I actually prefer slash. That story is In a Land of Shadows, and is a crossover with The Sentinel. I really enjoyed it.

You may also want to head over to the Pros forum:

http://www.thetvlounge.co.uk/professionals/

I pop in there from time to time. While they're friendly enough to all, it feels to me as if the folks hanging out there tend to be more gen. If I'm wrong about that, please let me know. They could probably give you some fic recs.

You also probably know www.circuitarchive.com is the main slash archive and Pros-Lit (on Yahoo) is the chief discussion group. Again, both are slashy, but welcoming to all. If you have any questions, holler. I hope you have oodles of fun.

Tiny correction...the Circuit Archive (which, for [livejournal.com profile] firlefanzine's benefit, I run) archives *all* Pros or Pros-related fanfiction, whether het, gen, slash, whatever (and it always has). It does tend to be slash heavy (well, more than "heavy" - the vast majority of stories on it are slash), as indeed the fandom is (and always has been, from the very beginning), and the gen fans do tend to archive elsewhere, I believe, but that's not because I wouldn't take or welcome those stories. You can see from my icon which way I lean personally *g* - but that has nothing to do with my archivist role; I want the archive to be as inclusive as possible. And there currently are gen and het stories up there, if a small percentage. (When I announce stories I've archived, which I do on [livejournal.com profile] circuit_archive and the associated mailing list, I specify the pairing - behind a cut - because many people want that information up front.)

The Hatstand, on the other hand, is explicitly (no pun intended *g*) slash only.

And welcome - to [livejournal.com profile] firlefanzine, I mean; not you, Ancasta, though of course you are welcome too! :-D Always nice to have a new face...

Sorry, Jess! I didn't express that quite the way I meant to. I know the Circuit has more than slash. But it's where I go to get my slash fix. :-)

Oh, no problem! As I said, it's definitely primarily slash; if you're looking for gen or het, I wouldn't think the Archive would be adequate as your only source of fanfic, no doubt about that. But I just like to make sure gen/het fans know they will find some stories at least, and that gen/het authors know that they *can* send me their stories! I have infinite capacity (well, for practical purposes) - there's room for everything! :-)

I think it's always nice to have people think about something from different angles- the more good ideas will be there for us.
As for all the abbreviations around in Lj: www.urbandictionary.com is useful for that.

Welcome to Pros! I still consider myself a newish fan, been in the fandom about a year now and I've loved every second of it!

Your wallpapers are beautiful! I love the Blue Bodie one. Thanks so much for sharing!

I'd read your German stories, unless they are more about one of the lads with a female, than the partnership.
My first experience with the lads was as a teenager in Germany, and it was an ever so lovely surprise to discover their "real" voices, especially Doyle's!

Here is a link to a few gen stories, though you may know them already:
http://members.shaw.ca/LRHBalzer/Prosfanfic.htm

Definitely partnership heave, not so much het.
