Curtain fic!

I am now kicking myself for including curtain fic as a square on the ci5hq Bingo board, because I guess it must have faded out of fashion far enough that people aren't really sure what it is any more. *g* I knew we'd had a discussion on here about it though, and I've finally found it, via Palelyloitering on the Wayback Machine. Yeay!

And I found a list of curtain fic up at Palelyloitering too, so I'm going to include that here as well.

Basically, most people defined it as "That the story is set at home and is about something domestic" and the next biggest definition was "That the focus of the story is something domestic (no matter where it's set)". And I guess both those things are where I was coming from when I included it on the Bingo board, so that's what I'm looking for - it's about the focus of the story being the domestic thing, no matter where it's set. So, mostly they're probably going to be set at home, but also, for instance, if a story was about the lads fighting over how they're going to decorate their first house together, even if they're doing it while on stake-out in the Outer Hebrides, and the focus of the story is them setting up their house, then that would still be curtain fic. *g*

What is that DVS story in which they notice and save details and Bodie goes back to get the things and puts them together in a house? Is that curtain fic? A tiny bit of Rainbow Cjasets involves Ray's fixer-upper--that's not the main focus, so I would imagine it fors not count?

A Different Game (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/18/adifferent.html) by DVS is the one you're thinking of - and I have the link to hand, because I wondered why that wasn't in the list too, and hagsrus mentioned it at the time too, so I went to remind myself... and ended up thinking that really the focus was on something else, even though there's alot of talk about the house... But I'm willing to be voted down if people think it should be included in the list!

And yeah, even though there's some diy in Rainbow Chasers, that's not what the story's about...

Okay - so it's beyond them living together and that arrangement resulting in a relationship? Sounds like that setup would be a subset of curtain fic.

It seems like there was as much questioning in 2009 as there is now! :-)
(I actually was around in 2009, but I don't remember seeing the discussion before. Which doesn't mean anything, really; I don't remember half the discussions I had last week, so.)
