The Worst Line

On Sebastian's website, the story Siren is accompanied by notes which declare that it "contains the worst line written by any slash writer ever, in the history of fandom." I've read the story a few times, and I haven't been able to figure out which line that is. Does anyone know?

Hm. The forgoing text is about the series to which Siren belongs, so I'm wondering now if it is one of the sequels that contains this fabled worst line. (Don't ask me why that never occurred to me before, when I've been nibbling at this question for weeks.) Perhaps I will go back and read the rest of the series again with it in mind. I'll see whether my curiosity motivates me enough for that.

Well I re-read Siren this morning, and couldn't work out any line that was worse than all the others that I've read, so maybe it's in the rest of the series. My version is copied all together, and I've just finished the novel I was reading, so I'll have a quick detour into the rest of the stories and see what I can come up with!

If we can't find it, maybe we should get in touch with her and ask! *g*

I will admit if I read that in an author's notes I'd listen to them and not read the story.

Or it's a way to get people to read and talk about it. Either way... Ah, no. :) Sorry!!

Heh. Well, I had already read the complete series on The Circuit Archive, where the note does not appear, before I stumbled on Sebastian’s site, where it does. I don’t know if I would have been put off otherwise or not.

I read this series very near the beginning of my interest in Pros. It intrigued me because it was unlike anything I had ever encountered in MFU fandom, though even then I recognized Ray’s characterization as an extreme interpretation.
