Er, hi. I was going to wait for someone else to post something before I posted in this comm again, but I've got these fic reports building up, so I'm jumping in once more on my own tail.
I'm still reading lots of Pros fic. Some of the fics I've found most notable are linked below.
The Waiting Room Affair, Incident in a Stairwell, and People Bending Broken Rules by DebraHicks
This is a series of crossovers between Pros and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. I liked the first two installments in this series much better than the final one, though I'm not sure exactly why. Possibly the parallelism between the two pairs of agents felt a little contrived in the final fic. (And for anyone wondering: I don't feel as if this series ever really solved the problem of Pros' and MFU's incompatible universes. It just stepped around it, though that worked well enough as far as it went.)

(Warning: This is dark deathfic.)
I love this fic. I've read it multiple times and recently read it again, confirming that I still love it. I find the story both suspenseful and moving. The interplay between what is said and what is unsaid is very satisfying, too. That is something that always grabs me when I find it done well.

This fic is dark and violent, but oddly beautiful in the end, without actually becoming any less dark or violent. It's an interesting experience.
Camouflage by Lezlies
This fic comes close to fitting into the genre of LGBT-themed non-slash that I was asking about a while ago on this comm. There were a couple of elements that I think the story would have been stronger without, but overall it was effective and I liked it very much. I will certainly read it again.
Doyle & Bodie - Easy Prey by

(This fic can be found in the the library of the gen group Prosfanfic.)
This was an exciting story with lots of action. The interactions between B&D were very well done, and the supporting characters were interesting. I did nearly quit reading early on due to some tedious rhapsodies about the desirability of the male leads. Looking back, though, I think those were meant to establish the personality of the character who had point of view at that moment in the story. There were a few bits of this fic that strained my credulity and also some important issues that I felt were left unresolved at the end. I enjoyed the story quite a bit overall, though.
Doyle & Bodie - Bit by Bit by Jaicen5
(This fic can also be found in the the library of the Prosfanfic group.)
This story was great. Its pacing and plotting were excellent; it succeeded wonderfully at imparting a growing sense of menace that bloomed into a suspenseful climax. The interactions between Bodie and Doyle were also outstanding, and the writing was a bit more polished overall than in Easy Prey. There was something very episode-like about this fic, as well. I'm not sure what all the factors were that contributed to that impression, though I think I can identify some of them.
Today's Lesson and Touch Sensitive by JoJo
This series is intense hurt/recovery fic with a relatively high level of realism. It is beautifully done in all respects and was a very good read.
Laeti Triumphantes by

This fic is mostly sex, but also has a satisfying emotional arc, as well as good writing. I liked it quite a bit.
...and finally...
A Really Useful Engine by Amanda
"Bodie was a handsome steam-engine...with his gleaming black paint and bright blue trim[.]"
Yep. It's a Pros/Thomas the Tank Engine crossover.
The fic is brief and silly, and I enjoyed it. It can be found in the library of the Prosfanfic group.

Date: 2020-09-25 03:10 pm (UTC)The post I made about LGBT-themed non-slash can be found here, if you are curious. It is a niche interest of mine, and I made up that term for it.
Speaking of terms, I am interested in the distinction between a slasher and a shipper. I would have said that the former as a subtype of the latter, i.e. a that a slasher is someone who favors slash ships. What are your definitions?
