Thank you so much everyone who joined in the Pros Novel Read-Along for Painted Angels by Angelfish, and thank you also very much to everyone who joined in the Pros Random Circuit Challenge too! It's been a lovely few months in the comm!

This post from [livejournal.com profile] macklingirl made me think of one of my favourite Pros stories, which I'm coincidentally reading at the moment, and when I described it to her I said it would be in my top five Pros stories, and then I thought maybe top three actually, and that of course got me wondering about that old question, which is so hard to answer, but kind of fun to think about... What are your top five favourite Pros stories?

I think mine would have to be:

1) Voice-over by Elizabeth O'Shea
2) The Larton Chronicles by Rhiannon
3) Island Innocents by Glen Fiddich
4) Facets II: Stolen Moments by Maggie Hall
5) Suitable Gravity by DVS

What about you? What five stories would you want to have with you if you were marooned on a desert island?

No, I know. Especially since the Onternet is not a thing.

I don't know how to choose.

On three separate occaisions, I have paged through all of the Ao3's B/D stories to find the ones I had a yen to reread. I suppose that is a desert island kind of list, though some of them are guilty pleasures. So I chose from them.

No particular order, or rather, depending on what got caught in my memory most recently:

1. JoJo "Running on the Rails"
2. Haloterant, "Carapace"
3. Heliophile, "Picture This"
4. AngelCI5, "The End of the Path"
5. PFL, "Ties"

I read Ties by PFL two days ago, and it wasn't my first time. It's a brilliant story to re-read again and again.

I don't have a direct link, but it's in Ao3. I bet you've read it. Bodie, driving, is looking idly through the racing lists and odds when he's not watching Doyle skimming round the storefronts. Anson is trying to be funny in the back seat. When Doyle comes back, he and Bodie communicate through the horses' names. Anson never gets it.

When I first read Pros fanfic, then watched episodes. I kept waiting for the ones when Anson turned out to be an annoying unfunny crud. I wonder how he got such a terrible reputation in fanfic.

Almost impossible to boil it down to 5 and some stories were favourites years ago but might not be today but I'll give it a go if I can cheat:

Sebastian's Wonderful Tonight, Et in Italia Ego, Down to the Waterline, Perfect Day.
Helen Raven's Heat-Trace
Holden's Forever True
Your Love in the Guise of Friendship (if that's the one where Doyle says 'you gave me the moon') and On this day in history.
Courtney Gray's Night Moves.

And *then* you've got stories with favourite introductions, favourite 'catch in your throat' moments, etc., etc.,

Forgot to add Maclean's Choosing and Redemption.

I agree and there are authors I'd forgotten (let alone stories) where I've loved *all* of their stories.

I've just realised (and I keep doing this) that I've confused Love in the Guise of Friendship with your Discovered Out of Context! I love both but I particularly love this scene/golden moment:

Physical contact's supposed to be good for..."
"What about kissing me? Was that just physical contact too?" It was strange, seeing it all together like this, a single solid line to this moment that was so clear, so pure and clear that he couldn't imagine ever having not known. "And that time when
the roof fell in... you brought me a torch?"
Bodie's lips twisted in a half-smile at that.
"No..." He remembered. "You brought me the moon."

You brought me the moon..... just perfect!

It's really interesting. I do remember some stories and would like to re-read them, and a lot of stories I haven't read yet, but I want to. *sigh*

:-)  I have to think about all the good, impressive, sad, touching and brilliant stories to make up my mind. Thank you for this task  *g*
You will get my choice, but I need time to think that through, thoroughly, of course.
Do you want a comment or a new post/entry?

Not necessarily in order.

1. The Return by Ellis Ward
2. Boyhood by Courtney Gray
3. A Different Game by DVS
4. The Cook and the Warehouseman by Helen Raven
5. The Small Rain by Nell Howell

And that's just the tip of the iceberg!

This is an impossibly difficult question! There are too many I wouldn't want to be without!!!!!!! ... um, well, bearing in mind that this leaves out far too many gems and is not a definitive list by any means; maybe just what's uppermost in my mind at the moment ...
Of Tethered Goats and Tigers by Tarot
The End Is Where We Start From by pfl
On Guard by Gloria Lancaster
Boxing Day by The Hag
Sighting by halotolerant (and Tricks and Treats by Callisto, look it's on the same line so nobody will notice I put in an extra one)

no, it's no good - this leaves out reams of brilliant and dearly-loved fics, I can't stick with just five! (plus I want Suitable Gravity too)

I agree, it's nearly i m p o s s i b l e ! :-)

But these are the stories that come to my mind at first:

Mere Anarchy by Rebelcat (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/16/mereanarchy.html)

It didn't make it on my list due to only 5000 words - but it would have been worth it.

Not necessarily in this order

Saints and Miracles (http://thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/4/saintsand.html) by Jack Reuben Darcy
Mere Anarchy (http://thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/16/mereanarchy.html) by Rebelcat
Whisper of a Killl (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/12/whisperof.html) Lois Welling (Ann Barrister)
The Tangled Web (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/4/thetangled.html) by Jack Reuben Darcy
Cat Tales (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/3/cattales.html) by Fanny Adams

The last one is because it is a very long story and I always wanted to re-read it, but never had the time. There are so much interesting stories out there.

And are we all on the same desert island? Because then we could trade zines. *g*

A bit late and definitely clueless, in that all I can say is that I know that there will be a Sebastian story and a Courtney Gray story somewhere up the top.

Finally replying

House of cards by MCK
Journey West by Maiden Wyoming
Rainbow chasers by HG
Where the worms are by Pamela Rose
All the Queens men by Victoria Rackcliff

All old zines, there are a lot of more recent awesome stories but I haven’t rated them or kept a list of my favourites - maybe I should do that!
