Technically it's Friday here now, and what I really want to be doing is reading Pros stories - what I'll mostly be doing is working on Job 2 (once I've finished Job 1) but it occurred to me - maybe a quick press of the Random button at the Circuit Archive might be do-able, and then if I posted quickly about it... more Pros in my flist too!And then of course I wondered if anyone else might like to play! So - a challenge! Between now and midnight at the end of Monday (your time), head over to The Circuit Archive, hit the Random button, and read whatever fic comes up! (If it's really long and you don't have time then feel free to go back and random until you get a length that fits your free time) Then... nip over here and tell us about it? Wouldn't it be nice to have a wee string of Pros story posts all through the weekend? Go on - how many can we get...? *g*

Date: 2019-05-31 09:36 am (UTC)I think the story's well known - I've certainly seen it referred to quite a lot - so suffice to say that despite liking some of DVS' other work a lot the "olden times" semi-fairytale style in this fic is still not my cup of tea *bg*
I think I might have a quick search for Terence's Supporting Role now, though; I suspect that might be more my speed :-)))

Date: 2019-05-31 11:55 am (UTC)"Bodie: When I was nine I got blamed for breaking a window--did I ever tell you about it? No? Well, I hadn't busted the bloody thing."
Doyle could guess. "You went out and broke a window." He found a shaky laugh at last.
Now he and Doyle are accused of having done (nearly) sex in a public gay bar.
Guess what? :-)
*g* Cowley gives them a quasi permission:
"You may do as you like with one another," he said carefully, "be it play cards, watch television or whatever. But if I ever hear one word about this department being placed in jeopardy by any incriminating public display of any description, heads will roll. Is that understood?" "
Ok!
"Permission to go home and vandalise each other." Doyle sounded awed.
Bodie lifted one crooked brow at him. "We don't have to. He gave us permission to screw, not orders to." The green eyes met his and he saw them glitter with laughter."
Very nice indeed! :-)

Date: 2019-05-31 01:08 pm (UTC)I was sitting in a waiting room this morning and hit the random button. It appeared
A Christmas Conversation by Jay Trent.
It's a short story just right for a reading in an unfamiliar surrounding.
Funny is, I've read a lot of stories by Jay Trent recently, without this one, of course, so I did it now.
He switched on the lights on the Christmas tree.....
Bit strange reading this sentence in May :-)
Thank you for this interesting challenge.

Date: 2019-05-31 02:36 pm (UTC)Doyle is on suspension and Bodie has to work with Murphy. They have to search a house which is used by bombers. Since Doyle isn't there all went wrong and Bodie not only got a broken leg and a concussion but a surprise as well.
Nicely written and it shows how it was with two gay men bach at that time.
Love the idea of this challenge. I think I'll hit Random again this weekend. After I've read the other stories, of course.

Date: 2019-05-31 05:03 pm (UTC)Flavor of Life by Ice Bear
Date: 2019-05-31 05:21 pm (UTC)I got Flavor of Life (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/20/flavorof.html) by Ice Bear (and ooh, it hurts to spell it in American, cos straight away I'm reading it as non-English lads).
The lads are after some students who are shooting back. Bodie is shot in the shoulder and dragged off by them, but manages to leave an ingenious trail for Doyle and the other agents to follow.
I'm afraid I struggle to read Ice Bear's stories. She has some great ideas - and I like her idea in this one very much - but her style of writing makes me a bit dizzy. This one changes pov in each short paragraph, and there's alot of gorgeous stuff that's written as explanation rather than story - tell, not show. There's even a spelling/writing error (not the American spelling!) that pulled me out of the story too - "conscience" for "conscious". Sadly it means that I tend not to read Ice Bear's stories, so this is the first one for a long time!

Date: 2019-05-31 11:43 pm (UTC)A Date With Louise, by O Yardley
Bodie is coming up with names for Doyle’s cock, he starts off with Louise & then:
“Well, I could call him George, I suppose," Bodie said pensively, "But for one thing, he doesn't look like a George and for another... well," he grinned lopsidedly, "I do sometimes get asked who the latest girl is, y'know. Don't you?"
