Pros Novel Read-along anyone?
Mar. 25th, 2019 09:07 pm
I was thinking about what Pros fic I wanted to read next this morning, and for some reason, out of the blue, I wondered if anyone might like to do a Pros read-along - you know, where we all read the same Pros novel, a chapter at a time, and then we all come together in an lj post to talk about each chapter, probably once a week?
It would be a bit like the Reading Room, except that it would be a longer story, chapter by chapter.
If anyone fancies it, please comment below - and if you've got suggestions for Pros novels to read together, that would be cool too. If we got our act together, we could pick a story and maybe start chatting about the first chapter at the end of this week?

And ooh yes, I like your idea about favourite scenes too! There are definitely stories which have some fab scenes, but work less well overall. Maybe we can do that after we do the first novel?

Date: 2019-06-15 10:01 pm (UTC)Hello - I was thinking about what to do next here at the comm, and thought it might be nice to have a go at your idea before tackling another long read together. I'm going to post a week what-are-your-favourite-Pros-fics question now, just because I'm here and I have five minutes, but I was thinking about this and wondering - how do you think the favourite-scenes discussions would work? Just a single posts asking about people's favourite scenes and chatting about them, or asking people to post the actual scenes (that might be quite nice actually, seeing the scenes pop up in our flists!), or...? Were you thinking of any particular format? And would you like to host the discussion/please-post invitation/thingie? *g*

Date: 2019-06-16 06:59 am (UTC)To be honest, I hadn't really thought much beyond my original comment. Either of your suggestions would be good although I think it would be more enjoyable if people didn't post their favourite scenes all at the same time so there'd need to be some kind of discipline (for want of a better word) followed or 'imposed' to avoid one big, hectic post and I'm not sure how that would be achieved. And if people did post their own favourite scenes they'd have to precis it pretty well otherwise I'm not sure everyone would bother reading it.
And would you like to host the discussion/please-post invitation/thingie? *g*
That's very kind but no, thank you! There's no better hoster than you but I'd definitely try to come in and support everything as much as I could.
