Join the Queue by Lizzie

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a story by Lizzie, if you ask me, because she writes some of the most feel-good Pros fic that you can find. The conversation in the queue is slightly different when you have a two year old running around being generally excited and adorable, but I definitely remember conversations exactly like the ones in Join the Queue. Lizzie writes a very true world for our lads, and completes it by adding a depth of love between them that is like a glass of mulled wine on a cold winter's night - perfect. *g*

Yes, Lizzy's story is really good. It is as if she stood behind me when I went to the postoffice to bring my Christmas things on the way.

The man who stood behind me said "I don't like it that I have to wait sooooo long in this queue. Why must everyone went to MY postoffice?" And I thought "Why is it HIS postoffice? It is the postoffice for everyone."

And at the counter was an older lady and when the young man behind the corner asked her, what the package for Switzerland containes she said "Well, a Christmas present." And he answered "I thought so, but what is it and what is the price? You must write it here", and he handed her an international package certificate. "And you must stick it on the package." And the old lady said "I don't know what it is or what the price it. I'm here for my daughter, because she had to leave the queue and go back to work."

That was the moment when I thought "Oh my, there is a Pros-story like this. Which is it?" And now you made the rec for this story. You must have read my mind. *g*

A huge favourite of mine - it's just so brilliantly done (and yes, the conversation in the Post Office is perfectly observed). Absolutely love it!

I've always loved this story. Thanks so much for bringing it to mind. I had a wonderful time rereading it this morning. :-)
