Something new - Pros Fic Author Reading Week

As I was washing the dishes just now, I was wondering vaguely what Pros fic to read next, and had a sudden idea for something that might help cheer us all up, what with the lj-blues and frets hitting last week.

What if someone suggested a Pros author, and we all tried to read a fic or two that she'd written over the week, and then came together at the weekend (maybe from Friday night) and chatted about what we'd read?

Anyone up for it? Anyone care to suggest an author? The first author suggested is the one we'll all read! My only request, as moderator of this Pros slash (but gen-friendly) comm, is that the author writes Pros slash, so that we have a range of slash stories to choose from. (We know gen is also very good, etc. etc., but this comm was set up for the love of Pros slash, and most people who've joined it/that I know in Pros are here because they love our lads together, and I think staying true to that love is one of the things that might just help perk us up... *g*)

So... what does anyone think? Care to play...?

But great idea in principle - I'd like to suggest moonlightmead for one week - not necessarily this week as I can't play. But she wrote at varying lengths, so people who only have time for shorter stories could play along with people who have the time to read longer fic. And MLM wrote some lovely slashy stories.

ML Mead was a lovely writer indeed, but not counting the Christmas Fic Advent, she was actually the last author we did do an author read for (http://ci5hq.livejournal.com/282117.html) (two really, the second in memorium (http://doppelleben-ci5.livejournal.com/40836.html) at doppelleben_ci5), so we should probably wait a wee while before we read her stories together again. But I'm sure she'll be on the list again one day!

I think that's one of the reasons the Pros comms have gone so quiet - we're all so busy elsewhere, that no one is free when other people are free. So... if we did PRZed, you wouldn't be able to join in? That would be a shame, too... Would you preferred we waited to read her stories, and chose another author?

That sounds like fun! I'm currently reading "Strange Days Indeed". But would be fine to put it aside to read something by the selected author!

At the rate we're going, I might take that as a vote for HG! In fact... maybe I will! The two above suggestions were accompanied by "I can't make it this week", and you're actually reading a particular author right now, so... yeah - let's go with HG! And if you wanted to read a shorter story by her that you'll finish before the end of the week, that would work, right?
