I'm cheating a little bit here - I hadn't asked for another date but I noticed we've not had a post for the last two Fridays so I'm jumping in. Appropriately enough, with a vid titled "Jump In". Also cheating a bit in that it's a multi fandom vid but honestly who's going to mind about the inclusion of LoM and S&H? It's just an all-round feel-good vid with a very catchy song that always puts a silly smile on my face. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I do.

I can't quite watch this yet (no headphones handy) but I'm looking forward to it. So pleased you jumped in to rec a vid - feel free to do so at any time! I hope you do enjoy it, once you are home again and can watch. I was a S&H fan long before I discovered Pros, and I loved LoM, so this one just ticked so many boxes for me.

Me, too. I've written (and watched) S&H far longer than I've watched Pros. I remember Sam on LoM mentioned S&H, too, and of course would have almost been a contemporary of Bodie and Doyle, which is what makes those three series work so seemlessly together.

And IIRC John Simm mentioned somewhere that he modelled Sam on Bodie - and check out 1.43 in the vid, hilarious if you know what you're looking at!

Yes, I believe I've read some of your S&H fic, under dawnwind - that is you, isn't it? I'm sure I saw somewhere that was your S&H id - Crab Sandwiches was about the saddest thing I ever read. I devoured parts one and two in one sitting, got no sleep that night, and just cried and cried.... but I loved it.

Sadly, I discovered the crack_van (http://crack-van.livejournal.com/tag/the%20professionals) by accident only a few months before it closed for submissions - but it's still a wonderful resource - full of all sorts of goodies :0)

That may be where I first came across this one then, and if that's the case, thanks to you for bringing it to my attention. I loved crack_van! It was brilliant and I do miss it. Such a shame it closed, but I'm glad they didn't purge the site.

Three of my favourite series! Love how the scenes were grouped, highlighting the similar scenes: courtroom, tea drinking, bombs going off and characters from all three programmes got a chance to put on their sunglasses.

Finally not on the IOM and remembered to come back and watch the vid! *g* (And thank you so much for posting another vid rec - please feel free to post them any Friday (well, or whenever really *g*) you fancy it!

I've not seen this before, and it was good fun! I don't know the music either, but it worked, and I must admit to feeling quite smug that I thought the B/D clips were the most gorgeous of them all. Much as I liked LoM and (at the time) S&H, they always strike me as a bit more like a cartoon than our lads were - I like B/D's gritty realism (which didn't mean they didn't have a sense of humour... *g*), and I think it's a better reflection of the times in lots of ways too. LoM is a bit extreme in the we're-so-tuff-we-beat-everyone-up-ha-ha-ha department, more Sweeney-ish than Pros, I've always thought (though I see John Sim reckons he modelled Sam on Bodie. Don't quite see it - but maybe I need to rewatch. *g*

Liked Sam and Gene both trying to roll over the car bonnet - I bet I noticed that when I watched LoM, but I'd forgotten!

I have to agree with you about the Pros clips being the best :-) :-) :-)

S&H could be quite gritty at times, but did devolve into camp in a few episodes (hairdressers? dance instructors? really?) I still loved it though, and still have the DVDs. Pros certainly had more of a flavour of the times, and dealt with deeper issues - terrorism, racism etc - but then a lot of US tv seems to be aimed at the lowest common denominator. Whereas Pros makes you think, it doesn't hand the answers to you on a plate, and the endings aren't always tidy. There are a couple of eps I had to watch twice because I couldn't make sense of the plot on the first viewing (but the pretty was a consolation prize, so there).

LoM was a bloke living in a 70s construct in his own mind so was always going to be a bit different. Still an amazing idea for a show, and well executed, and the final ep had me yelling at the tv and I can tell you it takes a LOT to provoke that kind of a response in me.

I'm glad you enjoyed the vid. That bit of Sam and Gene doing the bonnet roll is just classic!
