Friday Night Pros at the Cinema
Mar. 11th, 2016 09:57 pmHi again!
byslantedlight has kindly given me another turn.
One of the first things I do, when getting involved in a new fandom, is check out the fanvids. Vids usually offer a glimpse into the scenes that the vidder found to be the most meaningful, or memorable, and some scenes tend to pop up again and again in vids, proving their popularity. It’s a shortcut to discovering what fandom loves best about the show.
As the visual material is usually new to me, I’ll start off with vids set to songs with which I’m already familiar, to make it easier to concentrate on the pretty. That’s how I found the vid I bring you tonight; it was actually the first Pros vid I ever watched.
So here I am, shamelessly diving in the shallow end, to bring you – Ray’s bum. I don't think you'll mind terribly.
Not on youtube unfortunately, and a grainy copy (I wish wish wish someone would remaster this using the new DVDs!) but can be downloaded here.
500 Miles (I’m Gonna Be) Vid by Media Cannibals, words and music by The Proclaimers
When I wake up, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you
When I go out, yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
If I get drunk, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
And if I haver, hey I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you
But I would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
When I'm working, yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money comes in for the work I do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you
When I come home, oh I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And if I grow old, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you
But I would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
When I'm lonely, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's lonely without you
And when I'm dreaming, well I know I'm gonna dream
I'm gonna dream about the time when I'm with you
When I go out, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
And when I come home, yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home with you
I'm gonna be the man who's coming home with you
But I would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
And I would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more

Date: 2016-03-11 12:23 pm (UTC)And as a special reward, I have some good news for you - I Would Walk 500 Miles was remastered several years ago by Justacat, and can be found here on the Circuit Archive (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/vids/500Miles.php)!Eeeep - that's the version you're talking about! Blimey, doesn't time overtake us... *g* I thought you must have been looking at an old ProsLib version, for some reason! It's true though - all our favourite old vids remastered with the new sharp dvds... what a dream!Back to the vid though - brilliant choice, I love this one! I love the idea of Doyle walking 500 miles to keep up with his Bodie, and of course the clips aren't bad either... and I do like the Proclaimers (I got to see them live once, in the Shetlands - they were brilliant, but I was with people so much younger than me that they didn't get it at all, and didn't tap a single toe. Bizarre!)
