Friday Night Pros at the Cinema
Feb. 12th, 2016 12:09 amThis was a tough choice - there are so many incredible vids that I want to recommend. I especially enjoy the way that as time goes by, as new technology emerges, as source quality jumps forward, new visions are born - new interpretations. As with our authors, Pros is blessed with very talented vidders.
I chose Thirty Years of Sunshine by Crimson because it encompasses so much - condenses the heart of it all down into this velvety focus. Crimson was able to pull out exactly the right moments - the touch, the twinkle, the touche, the tenderness - and bind them together with such care. Watching this vid, it is obvious why Bodie and Doyle capture our hearts and will continue to do so! Dim the lights, savor a drink, grab a tissue, and enjoy (re)watching this beauty.

Now Comes the Night by Rob Thomas
When the hour is upon us
And our beauty surely gone
No you will not be forgotten
And you will not be alone
No you will not be alone
And when the day has all but ended
And our echo starts to fade
No you will not be alone then
And you will not be afraid
No you will not be afraid
And when the fog has finally lifted
From my cold and tired brow
No I will not leave you crying
No I will not let you down
No I will not let you down
I will not let you down
Now comes the night
Feel it fadin' away
And the soul underneath
Is it all that remains
So just slide over here
Leave your fear in the fray
Let us hold to each other
Until the end of our days
And when the hour is upon us
And our beauty surely gone
No you will not be forgotten
And you will not be alone
No you will not be alone.

I wasn't new to the show, but I was very new to the fandom when I first saw this. It really sums up everything beautifully :0)

I love that the song - and the vid - are so thoughtful in tempo, when the show was so often about the action. It picks up the subtler themes in the show and encapsulates much of the fandom.
It is potted Pros - beautifully rendered.

Date: 2016-02-13 02:14 pm (UTC)I kinda picked that up via the credit at the end, but obviously not the detail of how it was all put together - it must be great to have that kind of connection with such a fantastic vid.

Date: 2016-02-13 02:51 am (UTC)And Pros has some really talented vidders - it's all a bit intimidating.
I'm toying with some vidding ideas myself. I'm hoping to be able to make one, but I'm thinking of starting with Man from U.N.C.L.E. - or possibly Star Trek (which I also write) or Space 1999 (which I don't - but just might).
As you probably know, I've been playing about with some software (http://fiorenza-a.livejournal.com/28558.html) and it's left me with a real respect for all the vidders who started out with VHS. And a renewed appreciation for all the vids I love :0)

Date: 2016-02-15 05:22 am (UTC)Certainly will, although I haven't actually made one yet. Just getting the hang of the software with a few practice bits :0)
