A Pros New Year Reading List? Recs Wanted!

It's another year - already, how did that happen? Having been madly trying to catch up with Christmas-y fics, I had to start wondering about New Year fics, and when I went to look for a list, I could only find two under the comm tags. So of course I wondered if there were any more out there... *g*

Do you have a favourite News Years-based Pros fic? Or just remember seeing one around somewhere...? It'd be nice to add to the list! Or even to have a chat about Pros New Year stories, if you're so inclined. What is your favourite? Do the lads at New Year work for you, or do you think they'd have some of the same issues they might have on bonfire night - too many fireworks to hear the villains' shooters! What do you imagine them doing on New Year's Eve (well yes, probably that, but feel free to go into detail... *g*)?

I have nothing pithy to add to this, I am afraid! You've already hit my favorite, The High Road. I confess I don't always like M. Fae, but when she is good, she is fantastic. She is also about the most effective breaker of the fourth wall in Pros fandom, IMO.

What, not a single pithy Pros-y new year fic?! *g* Even when I don't like M.Fae Glasgow (which really means the Snowbound stories, for me), she's an excellent writer. Though I must admit that I never thought of her as playing with the fourth wall as much as writing in a more old-fashioned style! It's funny, people used to "break the fourth wall" all the time in books, but it only seems to have become a thing that's talked about as unusual through fandom... or maybe I was just never reading reviews and so on when I was reading in general! *g* Either way, I agree!

They did, didn't they! But it doesn't seem to have been a common thing in fandom (or the ones I've been in) and it wasn't well done when it was, hence my delight at her facility with it *g*. Then again, it could be that other folks just find that style annoying and that's why it's not much seen, who know? *g*

I really like The Luck Bringers, and I always seem to forget it these days, because whereas the name Nell Howell is engraved into my lj-psyche somehow, I've never quite got my head around "Istia". I must try harder...
