It's Christmas and the lads are working late, and that collides with both a gift and a legacy to present Bodie and Doyle with the most interesting holiday ever ...


"Pardon this lout." Bodie swept a courtly bow. "If Madam will just permit me--whoops!" He spun away trailing wrappings. "Naked as nature inten--"

"Bloody 'ell!"

Bodie regained his equilibrium. "Naked. So she is!"

"I've never seen a--"

"What, a pair of tits?"

"Not on a hatstand."

I will confess, this is one of my favorite winter holiday reads.  The plot is by turns wistful and whimsical, and possibly just a touch of magical, and the author leads Doyle and the reader down a slightly tipsy path with wordplay that delights but never falls over the edge.  Read this with a glass of well-made eggnogg at your elbow (or not!), you won't be disappointed.

An odd bit of whimsy I'm oddly fond of - must be because The Hag is so brilliant, she can get me reading things I usually wouldn't and loving them! *bg*

Why haven't I read this before? This is hilarious! They are just at the top of their game, bantering back and forth, and everyone gets wht they need in the end. (Except for maybe the Home Secretary's wife. Eh, she's a closet fangirl, let's admit it.)
