I've always loved this little story.

There's a gentle simmering of anticipation as they shyly chat each other up over the RT, coupled with melancholic undertones caused by the lonely fear of rejection.

"I want someone to share my life with, all the way up to the stars, and all the way down to the nails on the coffin." Doyle paused. "But mostly, I just want someone to be with on the long drive home."

Lovely images that capture the magical essence of Christmas, it's both poignant and romantic.

Oh, I liked that one. The poignancy, the longing for love, companionship--both of them not quite seeing who was there--if not physically in the same room. Doyle's comments on the wedding and afterward, driving home were so sweet and sad. And then the happy ending.

This is one of my favorite Pro's stories - for holidays or not. And Ray's line "But mostly, I just want someone to be with on the long drive home." breaks my heart every time. Thanks for posting this one - I'm off to read it one more time.
