And today's story was...A Pugnacious Angel by Gil Hale
The lads and Murphy are in the cold seaside town of Midmouth in December, and there's something wrong with Doyle. Luckily Bodie's around - and someone else rather unexpected... There's something very properly English Christmas about this story - you can feel the chill wind of it cutting through you, and then you open the door to Rosebay, and everything is golden-warm and smelling delicious...

I love this story, and indeed many of Gil's beautifully written stories. As you say, in this one she really conjures up the bleakness of the weather and what is on Doyle's mind and counters it with warmth and caring. And I adore the pugnacious angel, somehow so very believable.

Hello - nice to see you around! I like Gil Hale's stories alot - I've re-read a few others whilst I had the folder out, and am looking forward to more. Warmth and caring is a good way to sum them up, actually!
