A Pros-fic December...

So - I'm all giddy with the idea of having my Prosfic out on shelves again, and it occurred to me that the one Pros-y Christmas-y thing I haven't done yet this year is the Christmas Prosfic Reading Room. We had one in 2013 and in 2012 and in 2011 and in 2010 and I wondered if anyone fancied joining in with me for some Pros-y Christmas-y reading this year? If not then I have every intention of reading and posting about Pros-y Christmas fic myself, but it'd be fun to play with other people too.

My current plan is to read a Pros Christmas fic every day leading up to December (and maybe even after, cos I'll be on holiday then too *g*) and post a wee link to it and whatever my thoughts might be. They might be as simple as ooh er sometimes, but... well, for years when I was first in Pros the Hatstander used to post a Pros Christmas fic advent calendar, and I adored it, and then she stopped doing it, and I still miss it to this day. I just really like the idea of reading Pros slash for Christmas, somehow it fits the lads so well. There could be matching photos. Or... okay, I'm drawing blank now, but it's been a long day... *g* And there's going to be Discovered on a Silent Night in my flist every day in December, and it'd be nice if there was a Pros fic rec in my flist every day in December too. Who still reads Pros fic?! You know, I miss hearing what we're all reading!

So - anyone else want to play? We could make a calendar again, or I could just say please post about a Christmas fic one day in December! and we could see who posts when, and then I could link them all together, or...?

I like the idea! Having a calendar would be great, and my first choice, but I'll be happy with however many people will play posting about a Christmas fic on whatever day they chose.

And look! It's after Thanksgiving so I can haul out my Pros Christmas icons! *g*

Yeay Pros Christmas icons! For me it's either first-snow (well, other people's first-snow, usually now) or 1st December - which it is tomorr... no, today now - hurrah!

I don't think there's been enough interest to make a calendar of it this year, which is a shame, so I think we'll have to go with people posting whenever they like/can - I'll try and post every day, and then if other people post too we might have some days with extra Pros-y Christmas-fic goodness... so if you'd care to post too... *g* I'll put up the links as we go along though, hopefully...

I'd like to participate, but unfortunately I don't know much about Christmas Pros stories... So I look forward to see what stories other recommend!

I love Pros Christmas fic! I always catch up on Christmas with the lads this time of year. The only "problem", is the limited supply of stories. They are all great, but we seem to recommend the same ones, year after year. Not that this is really a problem, but it is repetitious. I am willing to participate, maybe not on a schedule, but more of a "please post about a Christmas fic one day in December!"

I am not talented enough to do photo manips or drawings, but maybe someone who is could choose a story and post a pic to go with? Or someone else could choose a story and the artist could create a pic to go with. That could be time consuming, but might be fun.

I know what you mean - I'm not sure it's completely a limited supply of stories - well of course it is, but not as much as we make it look! - as that people rec the same favourites over and again. I'm hoping to find some less-read ones myself, because I'll have my zines out again, and I thought I'd look up ProsLib, and just generally do a bit of wider reading. I suspect there'll be some repetition, but I'll try and be a bit more original myself this year!

If I try and post every day, and other people post at will (and as often as they like *g*) then hopefully we'll have some days with more than one post to enjoy... and wow, I can't believe it's December tomorrow!

I like your idea about stories and pics, but as you say, it might take a bit of time - and coordination! Wouldn't it be lovely to have lots of new Christmas art to go with the stories too... *dreams*... *g* Maybe one year!

I liked the way you organised it the last years, with a posted list which fills itself over the days... and maybe I'd even consider joining in.

I was thinking that there weren't enough people interested to post a list, but on the other hand I was going to post a list of links anyway, so maybe I could do that and even just a few of us could fill it up... hmmn - I shall have a think! I can't believe it's December already now - today! *g* Oh, and please do join in - it doesn't have to be anything complicated, you know! Just I like this story, here's a link... *g*

Having read all the Big Bang stories I have been lured away by Granchester (currently reading the books before the DVD arrives) and Downton Abbey. Although I do have "my boys" on the DVD player while making Christmas cards, printing wrapping paper, making wreaths, etc, etc, etc!
Pros at Christmas - a brilliant idea - I just wish I had more time. I haven't accessed this e-mail more than once a week for ages. I would like to post if someone gave me a story (not too long, but I do like a long tale!) with the link. I'll find my instructions for posting and make time!

Would it help to link to the Hatstand's list of Christmas stories - or do you have a separate one? That way people would be reminded of what's around.

Ah, thanks for that! I think in previous years I've linked the Hatstand and Palelyloitering lists, but I don't remember whether I did the A03 tagged Christmas stories too, so this is great.

I don't think there's enough people to make a calendar up before we start, but perhaps people can just post randomly, and then we'll have at least one Christmas fic recced each day... Do feel please join in any time! *g*

I've not read the Grantchester books, though I've been eyeing them up - they're on my list... *g* But I'm going to go back to Pros for a bit, I think, cos I've quite missed them while I've been moving about here and there!

As hagsrus suggested, would it help if you had a list of Pros Christmas stories to choose one from? Last year I linked to the Hatstand and Palelyloitering Christmas story lists, I think, and I could do that again - or I could randomly choose one for you from one of the lists, and you could let me know if there's a particular day you'd like to post. Or just post whenever you feel like it (I don't think there's enough people for a full calendar this year, which is a shame, but I'm going to post anyway, and I think a few other people are as well. We might have more than one post a day sometimes (which would be nice) and I'll link them all together into a list as we go too...
