Thanks to everyone who's volunteered so far, the
ci5hq Christmas/Winter/December story reccing calendar is nearly ready to go - there are just a few gaps left, if anyone else would like to volunteer to rec a Pros Christmas/Winter/December story one day! Or if any of our brilliant reccers would like to choose another date that would be fab, and if neither of those then I can cover the rest of the days myself - so either way, the Pros Christmas Advent Calendar is go!

Date: 2013-11-28 09:17 am (UTC)Wouldn't it be more fun if several people recced the same story? I'm always interested in recs, and in how different people see differently the stories - and having stories recced by more than one person would say something about that story, too! I'd like to rec one story which I like a lot (I still have to find it - forgot the title, but it probably has "Christmas" in it.) Can I take the 20th December slot? If I understood correctly, those slots having your name in them are still free?
Thanks a lot for putting this up !

Date: 2013-11-28 12:38 pm (UTC)The 20th December slot is actually the one that I chose for myself - so it makes sense that's the one somebody would like! *vbg* But I really don't mind, so yes, it's all yours. Any of the ones with my name on can still be free for people!

Date: 2013-12-09 12:30 pm (UTC)How have you got to this post? I can give you directions in the same style, if that would help. I'm curious about how you read this post actually, if you can't see the rest of the community! Just via a link somewhere, maybe?
But if you click on this link, it should take you to see all the posts in this comm, including the recs. The top of the page will look like this:
When you scroll down far enough, you'll go through all these recs, and eventually get to this post again. Explore! *g* So: CI5hq (http://ci5hq.livejournal.com/). (Or clicking
Next - how to post!
1. Okay, I can see you haven't joined the community yet, so you need to do that first: go to the User Info page of the comm (http://ci5hq.livejournal.com/profile).
(You can double-click on any of these pics to make them bigger).
(When you're on the front page of the comm you can also get to the User Info page by clicking on "User Info" in the sidebar on the left.)
(This is the User Info page that I see - yours might look slightly different)
Actually I've just seen that you're a member of a few comms already, so you probably know how to do that! It should say Join/Watch/Follow or the like - do all that! *g*
2. Once you're a member (you'll see it listed on the User Info page of your own lj) you'll hopefully see a link that says "Post" on the community's User Info page:
If you click on that, it should take you to a posting window, and you can just write your post into that (or copy and paste it if you've written it elsewhere). You'll see the usual little icons for bold and italics and so on, I think, and hopefully it'll be pretty intuitive from there. It should look something like this:
Then there's just three steps to posting!
- type in a subject line (copy what other people have been using for the recs: "An Advent Calendar of Story Recs - 20th December 2013")
- type in (or copy and paste from another document) your rec
- make sure the "Security" drop-down menu is set to "Public" (it should be)
- Hit "Post to CI5hq
That's it! I hope that makes sense - let me know if it doesn't.
