(I hope [livejournal.com profile] sw33n3y doesn't mind me borrowing this graphic she made of our Doyle as an angel...)

When we were first thinking of supernatural stories for this year's Reading Room, [livejournal.com profile] franciskerst asked me whether I knew of any Pros stories that involved angels, or the idea of angels - and I just couldn't think of any (except for a wip I've had on my hard drive for years, which is called Strange as Angels, and will be finished one day, I swear!). Eventually a few possible stories snuck into the back of my head, but I've not managed to go searching enough to come up with titles, so I'm going to ask out loud for help (and on behalf of [livejournal.com profile] franciskerst!)

She says:
Why not Angelic Lads? (or lads meshing - messing - with angels?)
I hoped there were some. Actually I know two or three of them (where "angels" were more a hint or a poetic, metaphorical figure than actual characters).
I remember at least three stories from the same author (Bardicvoice), where some angelic influence (real or metaphorical) was alluded: "Angels Unaware", where the angels, actually, are Bodie and Doyle, "Wolf in the Fold" and "A Reason for it All". But the hint is very light. I hoped there were more supernatural stories with clearly appearing angels in the fandom.

I think there are a few post-death stories where the lads meet various angels, and eventually it occurred to me that I'd even written one myself, but I can't think of the other titles and authors. Can anyone help? Stories which involve angels - to any degree, guise, or bent?!

Well, whatever we can call 'angel'...
Yes, it is and angel story, I think.

"Bloody hell," Bodie said at last. "You never told me you were Angeline!"
Doyle tensed; his spine straightened, but he didn't turn. His silence spoke volumes.
"You're a Fallen, then," Bodie said with quiet wonder. An ex-Angeline, banished, on the run...

I read this one pretty recently! And would have suggested it, if I could have remembered the title. :D

I really like how it was done.

I loved how it was done, too! And it took me forever to remember the dang title.... ;-)

Discovered in a bar fight, by Shay Sheridan - crossover with Good Omens and including an angel and a demon. On phone right now, and links are hard, but it's definitely on the Hatstand, perhaps elsewhere too.

I think one of the stories in Whatever We Are, You Made Us maybe sort of qualifies: Lizards In Tge Belfry (in the coda)

You don't have Whatever We Are...? Well, Lizards in the Belfry is sort of an exercise in... well, either subverting expectations or simply messing with my head. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. It starts with a dream, and then... we keep getting reference to Doyle's partner, we think it's Bodie, but really it's Murphy, and then we find that Doyle's first name is Will and Murphy's is George, and Ray Doyle is the Controller, and and and and... and then yes, angels. One of the lads is an angel.

It is a little strange, yes...

Well... I wasn't really sure what to make of it, myself. But if you want to borrow it, let me know.

I believe there's a story by Wally called The Christmas Angel but have never seen it. A tearjerker by all accounts!

There are a couple of Christmas stories in the theme of "It's a Wonderful Life" which hints at angels involvement in the Circuit Archive:

I'm not sure if this counts but Heaven Is A Place On Earth (http://hatstandfic.net/viewstory.php?sid=232&chapter=1) by LilyK has Bodie think he see's Doyle as an Angel when he's close to death near the end of the story. :)

Any any any mention of angels at all? I have been settling down with my shiny new Angel in the Dark this weekend (at last!), and there is copious angel imagery: Bodie telling Doyle he looks like a fallen angel, and like the angel of death, and Doyle seeing Bodie as "some cold, proud angel of darkness come to drag him down to hell where he belong". And the quotation which begins and ends the story.

Angel in the Dark PDF (http://archiveofourown.org/works/381709)
zine details (http://www.palelyloitering.com/zines/angelinthedark.html) (as you already know, obviously :))

These are not necessarily the kind of angels [livejournal.com profile] franciskerst is hoping for, however!

I'm sure there are more which fit better, but where they are, I dunno.

Does Grim Reaper stories count as angels stories?

I can think of several Grim Reaper / Angel of Death stories:

My Golden Afternoon With the Grim Reaper by PRZed

Death takes a Holiday by Foxcat

There is a story where Cowley is stalked by the angel of death and Bodie (who can see the angel of death around people who are about to die) offers to give up a year (?) of his life to buy Cowley more time.

The title escapes me at the moment but I know I've read this in a zine. Hopefully someone knows the title or else I will have to ask over at the prosfinder community for help! *g*

I thought of My Golden Afternoon... when I saw this, and forgot when I came to reply - glad you remembered!

Your zine story about the angel of death rings a bell, but I think I am confusing it with the stories where Cowley saves Bodie from a pact with the devil - are they by Jane Carnall? Ah yes, Hell Hath No Fury and The Price of a Soul. No angels there.

I found it!

The story is Time Enough by Barbara St. John in the zine Other Times and Places 3.
