Reading Room XIV - Pros and the Supernatural

Well the overwhelming majority of people who voted in the poll have said they'd like the Reading Room to continue (14 vs 1), so hurrah - let's see if we can get organised for this Thursday!

There were four themes suggested, so we'll set off with those, I think:

- Supernatural lads
- Flying lads
- Swimming lads
- Story series (a story from the series each week - this could become a year of Reading Room on its own, if other people like the idea - I rather do!)

We've somewhat had supernatural lads in different guises before, but I suspect there are many stories left to play with, so - since it's still the early-grey evenings of February (and the dim-summer twilights for everyone down under!), shall we start with that one?

There's a Halloween storylist here to give you some ideas, so... do we have volunteers with stories for February (and after, if enough people like the idea to keep going)? *vbg*

I've never read this before, so a little hesitant about offering to rec Fire by PFL. I could do it on 21st but this is my grand-daughter's first birthday and I'll be partying. Can we segue into March? If so, I'll happily post on Thursday 7th March? Otherwise it'll have to be either a slightly earlier post on the Wednesday or a slightly later one on the Friday? Over to you BSL.

As a theme? It would be fun - only I don't think I can think of a single story that involves our lads and angels... did you have one (or more?!) in mind?

I hoped there were some. Actually I know two or three of them (where "angels" were more a hint or a poetic, metaphorical figure than actual characters).

I actually have a partially written angel-metaphor story myself - must finish that one day!

If you want to let me know those two or three, then I can add "angelic" stories to the theme list - we just need somewhere to start from! Come to think of it, there are a couple of post-death stories that might feature angels of one kind or another - they'd fit too. Could have some interesting discussions about the inclusion of the angel imagery too...

I just realize I forgot to answer your question. I remember at least three stories from the same author (Bardicvoice), where some angelic influence (real or metaphorical) was alluded: "Angels Unaware", where the angels, actually, are Bodie and Doyle, "Wolf in the Fold" and "A Reason for it All". But the hint is very light. I hoped there were more supernatural stories with clearly appearing angels in the fandom.

However, I'm camping out @ the hospital right now, and my supernatural stories notes are at home, so I need a little time to list a specific story.

Is it okay to rec stories that aren't on that list? I've got one in mind that's got a supernatural feel to it that I'd be happy to do. :) I'm free to rec on the 21st or I can do it in March if we're doing this theme for another month. :)

No, they don't have to be from any list at all - the list was just to help people come up with ideas! golden_bastet said she'd go for the 21st, but she also said that if anyone came up with something more concrete than she had, to let them take it instead - so I suspect that means it's all yours! Let me know your story!
