Hi there! My apologies if this community isn't the right place to make the following request, I'm not sure where else to do so.

I've just gotten into the Professionals fandom after watching episode 2x01: Hunter/Hunted and I must say, I'm head-over-heels in love with it. Lewis Collins is a sexy beast. *mwar* And the funniest thing is, the show was produced before I was even born! Heh.

There's a particular writer's work I'm searching for. She goes by the nickname of HG. Her stories have been very highly recommended, but I have no idea where to find them. Are they available online, especially the one entitled Strange Days Indeed?

Thanks for your time and help!

At the moment nothing online, alas, but many on the Proslib CD.

There's a version of Strange Days Indeed included on the CD, but she also has a revised zine version, and other collections, etc. See http://hatstand.slashcity.net/zineinfo/fanzines.html

I used to have the floppy disk version on my hard drive, but lost everything in a computer crash last year. :(
And the floppy disk is now corrupt.

I'll have to find out where to purchase the cd version...

Hi! Welcome. Pros is a great fandom. I hope you enjoy yourself. As Frances was kind enough to mention, HG's work is on the CD and in zines. I wondered though if, being new, you might not know about the CD. It's available through Proslib. And is a collection of fic and other resources. Some of these stories are on the web, but many aren't, as their writers have requested they not be made available in that way. The CD is updated from time-to-time (I honestly don't know the schedule). The cost is minimal (basically just enough to cover materials and postage). Contact proslib-owner@yahoogroups.com for more info.

Online, the main archive is www.thecircuitarchive.com. Nell also has a wonderful site, The Hatstand, that is part archive, part resource center. That URL is: http://hatstand.slashcity.net/.

HG is a wonderful writer. Some others who might be a good introduction to Pros (and are available online) are: Sebastian, Pamela Rose, Angelfish Archivist, PFL, Elizabeth O'Shea, Tarot, By Slanted Light, Castalia, PR Zed, Courtney Gray and Kitty Fisher. There are others, of course--I have to cut this off somewhere, or the list would be a mile long! Mind the warnings, where applicable. I don't know your tastes or squicks, but some of these authors may veer into territory that would make you uncomfortable.

Happy reading.

The CD is continually updated. I burn a copy when somebody needs one. The master is on my hard drive and I add each week's stories as they are emailed (plus any other interesting oddments I come across).

You may not realize that Pros, being the second or third oldest fandom ever, was primarily driven by zines for its first 20 years. So the vast majority of stories for Pros were never published online, and some authors (thankfully not HG) have said they don't want their stories published electronically. That's why the Proslib disk, the Circuit archive, and the master zine list at Hatstand are so critical--it will help you figure out what is available electronically and what isn't. Then you can begin the great zine hunt that most Pros followers live with.

Be sure to look at the Pros recs on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van too. It used to be regularly rec'd, so there is a long list of good stories there.

Just adding a direct link to the Pros recs on crack_van since it can be tricky navigating.

This community is a great place to ask questions like that - feel free, any time!

Welcome to Pros! HG is great, she's one of the first authors that I "found" as well, and because she's not online I'm still finding stories written by her, which is a frustrating kind of wonderful bonus!

Another recommendation site (you might know about it already of course), which currently has 100 Prosfic recs, is Rec50 (http://community.livejournal.com/rec50/). On the right-hand side is a list of the fandoms recced, and under "T" (for "The Professionals" *headdesk*) you can find a list of recced stories.

Welcome! :)

I've just gotten into the Professionals fandom after watching episode 2x01: Hunter/Hunted

Me too! My first ever episode! One of the best too... Well technically i knew of the fandom after reading some recs on [livejournal.com profile] rec50 less then a year ago :)

And the funniest thing is, the show was produced before I was even born!

Same here :) It is funny, isn't it? How it's still cool and relevant...
