Fly on the Wall
by Lezlie Conch

This was my morning's Random Circuit fic - and I was quite pleased, because I've not read this for ages, and I quite like it. It could probably just as easily be Starsky and Hutch as our lads (probably more, because most of the language and dialogue is either pretty or purely American), but if I scrunch up my eyes and translate in my head then it could be the lads, and it's a fun idea. *g* I like new-Murphy, who Bodie's trying to figure out, and I like hunted-Doyle, and I like clever-Bodie and even more his final realisation... *g*

(Also I'm making this a separate post, because when I made the original challenge post I was hoping that people would make individual posts so that there was lots of Pros fic in our flist pages, but instead they added reviews as comments, which is cool too (and do go and check them out) - but does slide out of flist pages when people on our flists post other things to their own ljs and what-not, and I'm ever hopeful of more posts, and we've got all weekend to play... *g*)

When I hit the Random-Button on Friday it was Awareness by Shorts for me. I didn't know the story and it was a nice read.

Doyle is on suspension and Bodie has to work with Murphy who isn't very happy about that. They have to search a cottage which is used by terrorists. Since Doyle isn't there everything went wrong and Bodie not only got a broken leg and concussion, but also a surprise by Murphy.

This story shows in a good way how difficult it was for two gay men back in that

Just an Illusion

A wee short one this - but in fact it could have been about ten, or even twenty times as long, because to me it was really the summary of a story rather than the story itself. Okay, that depends on what you want from a story, but for me, rather than "While he had been in a pub waiting for his contact, a fight had developed" I want something more like "The pub was packed, the air blue with smoke and curses, the barstaff suspicious and short-tempered, and..." You know? I want to be able to imagine everything that's happening in a story, see a picture that's been painted...

So I guess I'd say this one was another case of good idea - but I want more from the execution!

So, my second result was The Flat by DVS.

I know I've read it before, but I couldn't remember much. Only that we have a Doyle who goes back to some things he did when he was a art student and an innocent Bodie who loves him really much.

It's a long story, not bad written, but not entirely my preferred reading material.
