Just a quick heads-up to let you know there'll be a slight delay in my Reading Room post this week. When I chose Poison Apples to review, I ordered a copy of The Wicker Man film, and it's already been posted and will most likely arrive tomorrow - just too late to do my review on time. So I'm hoping that it'll be here, I'll watch it tomorrow, and post a review on Friday - but if worst comes to worst it might be Saturday instead...

So maybe there's a little more time to read the story now, if you've not already done so...? *g*

Poison Apples by Pamela Rose (fusion with The Wicker Man)

I believe this Pros story was quite controversial in its time - it certainly spawned a number of sequels, which is always an interesting sign... *g*

Sigh! That must be the famous broad hint. ;-)

I really didn't want to read it, but I've talked about it with some friends, and that made me curious.

Curiosity is getting the better of me... I think I may have to read this one. :)

Where would the lads have got, without curiosity, after all? *g*

Ah, so true! :D

I actually read it when I first started with the fandom and was pulling all sorts of random things from the Circuit Archive.

I liked it - I like "not-nice" things (don't think that's a spoiler) - but I'd like to rethink it since I have more knowledge of the fandom (like, well, watching the series :D).
Haven't seen the movie, though I've heard about it.

Just read it yesterday, it´s looooong!!
But I think I have to read it again, now that there´s still time.
I just don´t know what to think of it. I put it away after the first third or so because I was bored, but then I started again and couldn´t put it down any more.
Maybe I´ll read sth else, though. *g*

Looking forward to your post! Whenever.

Intriguing. It was ITPI 1985, so pre-internet. I believe I want to know more :)

I read this story only recently and just as the film did, it creeped me out. I can never forget the last scenes of the film, and the last scene of this story was just as memorable. I really enjoyed the way the author wove the film and the lads from CI5 together.

Oh, and I was a teenager when I saw the film, and shortly afterwards the school choir started to rehearse a new song....

'Summer is a-coming in...'

Eeeeeek!!!!

Sadly, I won't be able to get on line tomorrow evening - I am flying to Vienna to cordinate a weekend course and won't have casual internet access (business only)

I'll look forward to reading all the reactions though :-)
