[identity profile] byslantedlight.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] ci5hq

We've come to the end of the last Reading Room theme, and the next one on our list was Time Travel/Historical AU stories - are people still up for that? Do you want another Reading Room?

And most importantly - would anyone like to volunteer to post about/rec/review a story one week? We need to fill (and more if people want!):

Thursday 15 September - [livejournal.com profile] unoriginal_liz - The Mistletoe Fairy by JoJo
Thursday 22 September - [livejournal.com profile] nypagan - Victorian Kitchen Gardener by Lizzie
Thursday 29 September - [livejournal.com profile] moonlightmead - Alchemist's Measure by Kitty Fisher
Thursday 06 October - [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight - Time Out: Past Tense by Pamela Rose
Thursday 13th October - [livejournal.com profile] constant_muse - Love Conquers All by POM
Thursday 20th October - [livejournal.com profile] foxcat74 - Hazardous Fortune by Sally Fell
Thursday 27th October - [livejournal.com profile] franciskerst - Quanta Leap series by Jane Mailander
Thursday 3rd November - [livejournal.com profile] siskiou - Traitors Fate by Meg Lewtan

(Just to clarify the theme - the original theme proposed was "Time Travel", which was then expanded slightly to mean the lads in any times past, for example in a historical AU fic, so really it's pretty loose, but means any fic about the lads not mainly set in canon times!)

What do you think? Would you like to play?

And here's a list of Pros historical stories for inspiration... *g*

Have you got the beautiful Roman soldier story by Sineala on the list? I might have missed it:

And yes, I'd like to see the Reading Room continue.

Not beautiful Roman (although I think he would be) but a beautiful story which happens to be about a Roman soldier..

Yes, I want a reading room. What a silly question. Especially one which involves Kitty Fisher fics. Ahem. Although looking at the list, there's a lot of fun stuff here. I can see it running and running. Many of them are quite long, though. It might be an idea to nominate a short one for this week?

I can think of another Roman one, too, btw: Sineala's brilliant Miles Scortillusque at http://hatstandfic.net/viewstory.php?sid=407 .

I can perhaps manage a post for the 22nd or 29th. Quite possibly one of the Kitty Fisher ones, but there are so many others to choose from too.

I see that the instant I look away from the keyboard, all the dates are filled! But this can only be a good thing, and I can do the 29th fine.

Okay, I am definitely going to rec one of the Kitty Fisher ones. Probably the first one, but I may go for broke and go for the sequel.Shall glance over them and let you know asap.

Is the POM one the recent publication from Gryphon? Okay, that gives me both time and justification for ordering it now.

I'd love to see the reading room continue too - though I don't seem to be actually contributing a lot *hangs head in woe*. I do enjoy it though.

Yes, I'd like to see the Reading Room continue! :-)

But shouldn't we make a break during October, with all the expected fab BigBang stories?
Last year I managed to read them all(except 2 or 3 I didn't wanted to). And I plan to try the same this year! :-)
I think there are many others with the same problem.
(LOL! Give me more such 'problems'! ;-))

That has nothing to do with 'freezing', but with simple maths.
Fact is, that I only have a certain amount of time for Pros. And the BigBang is a special event in the year. I want to enjoy and honour it properly by reading and commenting, because it is realised with so much love and skill - by us! Pros fans united! ;-)

I'd love to read a time travel story; that's a favourite theme of mine.

OK for the rec; I have to make up for lost time and lost opportunities. (it will be a sweet penance). I don't know any time travel story though. Which are they?

I think I'll opt for the Quantum Leap-like series (I really enjoyed the show and bought the DVDs). I like the idea.

I assumed all the stories were available on line; it's a necessary condition for me to do the rec; ordering zines from abroad is a real ordeal (you have to pay more for the money transfer than for your purchase itself).

I need your help now. I searched both the Circuit and Proslib for Jane Mailander; they have the same stories but none has anything to do with Quantum Leap. There is a cross-over with Watership Down that I'd like to read because I love this epic saga about rabbits but it's fantasy, not time travel. The QL/Pros cross-over series is not even mentioned in the (updated) Proslib list of cross-overs.

I haven't got your message yet. Did you find a way of providing me the texts? Sorry to be insisting but there's no time for me now to order the zine, received it, read the series and write my rec. Think I live in France and know by experience that the delivering of packages may be very slow.

Out Of Time: Past Tense! One if my favorites, but i think we did that one here before? If not I'll rec it.

I do enjoy the reading room, though all I've managed to do is read (most of) the fics and drop by (not even every time, alas) to cheer.

FWIW, I enjoy reading the reviews and comments!

I love the reading room and could sign up for the 29th or October 6th.
Not sure which story yet.

October 6th is good, and I just started reading Time Out: Past Tense by Pamela Rose, so if it's still available, I'll take that one.
I don't think I've actually ever read it before.

I must admit, I've only been in the reading room a few times, but I do like it. I could rec and review one for Sept 22 or 29. As long as you're gentle with me, since I've never reviewed a story... Runs away before changing my mind...

I'll take the 22nd and Victorian Kitchen Gardener.

If you want someone to rec for this Thursday, I can do it :) I love 'The Mistletoe Fairy' by JoJo, and it's quite short, so...

I'm really looking forward to this theme BTW - so many awesome stories! :)
