My flist is sooooo quiet Pros-wise, so I thought I'd ask a question!

What Prosfic are you reading right now, or have just read, and did you like it?

And I know that's not a pic of the lads reading, but... it's kind of cute anyway, right? *g*

Just finished the zine, "Foxhole in a Graveyard." Though it's gen, (or, at least seems to be at this point,) I was taken with "Til Death." Of course, now I'm going to have to find a copy of "Close Doubles," where the story continues. *g*

Oh, I've dipped in and out of that zine, but I don't think read it from cover to cover (it's got a good cover, too!) -

The cover is delicious. *g*

I don't remember Til Death - do you remember who it was by? Can't remember if I've got Close Doubles at home either - I shall check for you, though! *g*

It's by Sheila Willis, who I'd not heard of before. I suppose she's at least primarily a gen writer. And, yes, I'd appreciate you checking!

Lol, same here. But thanks, anyway. :-) I'm sure I'll be able to pick up a copy somewhere.

I'm reading Unprofessional Conduct 11. I just finished Kissing Cousins by Lizzie. I adore Lizzie. She writes such a nice story that makes me smile and she always has the right touch of angst to make the story interesting. I love her worlds.

Thanks for your lovely kind words. Kissing Cousins was one of my earlier efforts and I'm not sure that it doesn't come over now as a bit too soppy. :-) So glad you enjoyed it anyway.

Oh, is that yours? I had no idea. I'm totally clueless sometimes! I blame it on old age. :)

No, not too soppy! I adore soppy when it's done with a light touch. It's delightful, much Cornish Ghosts. Your stories remind me of books like Pride and Prejudice and others in and around that time period. I happen to love historical/period stories and films so so I'm definitely happy.

Since I'm using old age as an excuse, I can't remember if I sent you an LOC regarding A Birdwatcher's Guide when the whole zine came out, but just in case I was remiss, let me say that I adore that zine. The stories are wonderful and the art is to die for.

Thanks!

Yes, I'm as certain as I can be that you did write to me about Birdwatcher. I'm glad you like it anyway and yes... the art is amazing. *Lorraine* is amazing...

I've just re-read 'Two Lovers' and 'A Lovesome Thing' so that I could refresh my memory before reading the sequels in 'Septet'.

For some reason I enjoyed them both much more than I did first time around. No idea why that should be!

Before I get into this game and let you know what I'm currently reading (oh, if you insist, Scenes from the Edge...) I'd give a week's pension (which isn't much, thankfully) to know what the final answer was to last week's game! (I think it was question No.7, but maybe I've missed it?)

And that's a gorgeous photo.

[And apologies, I've got another attack of editisis.]

The Blue Figurine? I would never have known that. Thanks! And yes, Choosing is the one with Ann Holly which I love. I tend to confuse Scenes with Building on Rainbows.

I'm three quarters through 'Catch a Fallen Star' by Rosemary... I started reading it by mistake while looking for something else entirely, and by the time I realised my mistake I was hooked *g*

I'm such a chaotic reader though - I'm always reading at least three things at any one time, and I can't seem to get any order into my fannish online habits. At least with books you can put things in a pile and read in height order if nothing else. :D

I'm enjoying 'Catch a Fallen Star' more than I thought I would when I started it, though I DO know what you mean about Doyle's hair getting long and... yeah. *g*

Mostly, it's nice and long, it's not making my brain hurt by being too angsty, or so twisty that I can't remember what's going on... plus it's got nice hurty/comfort and well-written sex scenes - she's not making me stop and think 'he put what where? HOW?!' I suppose it's falling into the 'easy/comfort' reading category for me, and acting as a lovely counterbalance to the horrible convoluted manuscript I'm trying to edit for somebody... ayeeeee! Sixty pages with no commas and a wandering POV. Weep for me!

I'm not feeling well, so went straight to one of my comfort fics -- Larton. I remembered Doyle making himself a hot drink to ease a cold and that seemed the perfect accompaniment for the hot toddy I was planning. And then I got pulled in (again!) to reread other favorite scenes. You just can't go wrong with Larton.

I've just read "Holding Back the Flood" by Lacey McBain, and I liked it quite a lot.
Sometimes I have a hard time getting into present tense stories, but this one felt just right. All those intense feelings, finally breaking though!

Ohhh, "Holding Back The Flood" ... it's so touching without being soppy. A great author.

I have just been wallowing in jaicen5's fics. How did I miss these before? They are fantastic episode stories, beautifully written, lovely h/c and thoroughly plausible in characterisation and dialogue.

I just finished "A double portion of spirit" by Asymphototropic.

It was a bit on the puzzling side for me, but reading it twice wasn´t a hardship at all! *G*

Before that, all the stories starting with "D" at the Circuit Archive.

And now I´m off to the stories coming after.
Oh dear, still sooo many stories to look forward to!

Yesterday I read the interview with Helen Raven and read her "Transients" again. Now I'm thinking about reading "The Same River" for the second time *looks a bit nervous*

Like Snailbones, I am finishing up CAFS, usually before falling asleep. So far this week I've read "If We Lay Here, Winter Demons, Coogans Bluff and Learning to Fly" and a bunch of shorties. After CAFS, I'll probably go back to "The Captive Heart, AIB, Catcalls" or the Emma Universe.

Yes, I read at every spare moment. *g*

http://gideonbd77.livejournal.com/ wrote "If We Lay Here" and WD is written by ILWB. Both are at the AHS.

Whenever I have down time at work, I'm always reading non-work related material. *g*

I've just finished re-reading Sebastian's Adagio series. I like the way it concentrates on the stormy new relationship but has very real episode-type action interspersed. I'd forgotten that was the series with the very memorable shoot-out at Doyle's mother's house at Christmas (part 3 - Homecoming).

I'm being very organised and sorting out all the fics I've saved (because I liked them) on my hard drive - converting them for reading on my Kindle and then if I can't remember them re-reading. Then I'm writing brief 'reviews' so that in future I have some idea which is which... From now on I'll convert before reading anything new and then either keep or delete it depending on quality but still do the reviews so as not to read things I don't like again.*g* I've used my Reading Room comments for some of my 'reviews'- yes, I'd saved those!

But there are some disappointments. Just before Adagio I reread some Derby Brennan 'first time' fics which I'd clearly thought at the time were worth saving. Apart from 'Listeners' the rest (Something else, What are friends for?, The things I do for you and Whose bed?) were very average and I have deleted them. Either my tastes have changed or I read them very early in my Pros-reading and had little to compare them with. They weren't bad - just not keepers!

Just finished reading FJBryan's "Endlessly". Loved the way it shows Ray's growing feelings for his partner and his fear of those feelings. My favorite bit is him sitting with the comatose Bodie, stroking his wrist and simply saying "I miss you." So moving.

Not that I'm aware of. It is in the zine "Never Far Apart 2" - which has some other very good stories in it as well.
