Some brilliant news to start the week - Elizabeth Holden has posted her Pros zine novel "Forever True" to her website - here at Fajrdrako's Stories, under The Professionals, of course!

This is one of my favourite Pros novels - it's a story about one of the more difficult things in life, a real moral dilemma for the lads, that involves not just themselves but other people, and it's full of the depth of feeling and atmosphere that sort of thing always brings with it. It will tug at your heart, and it will make you go oh no..., and it will make you smile and hug the lads, and it will make you... Well, you should go and read for yourself!

And now you can! Thank you so much to Elizabeth Holden, and to Marcelle of Keynote Press, who both went to alot of trouble to do this for us - and thank you, too, to the people who asked out loud on lj where they could find a copy of the story when it was mentioned, because that prompted me to get in touch with EH again, and look what a wonderful thing happened! Asking is good!

Forever True by Elizabeth Holden

ETA - apparently the pdf is actually two copies of the zine, which is 131 pages long, so do watch out if you're going to print it!

By the way, there seems to be a mistake in the PDF formatting. The story repeats itself once, so even though there are 260 pages, the whole story is only 130.

Well, you were right, I did manage to finish it last night. I really wanted to like the story but ... I ended up being rather disappointed by it. Technical-wise, the writing was great! It's just ... something about the way the story played out. It seemed to become less and less believable to me. By the end, I felt like slapping everyone involved and telling them all to grow some self-respect! *lol* (I'm guessing I'm in a very small minority that feels this way though.)

Thanks for the info and rec!! I'm always thrilled when zine stories reach the web - for that matter, now that I have my Kindle I'm thrilled when any novel reaches e-book format! And I love having personal recs for long stories.

Oh, how wonderful!
Thanks for asking EH and setting this in motion, and how nice of her and Marcelle to put this up for all of us!

Am heading over to download it now!
And put it on the old Palm to read at the doctor's office, where I'm sure there will be lots of waiting around, as usual.

There was a lot of waiting, so I already read a nice chunk. The doc had the flu, and was pretty miserable (I think he should have stayed home, instead of sharing the germs *g*).
Now it's back to PT and see if it does any good.

What a coincidence! Just last night I retrieved my copy of Forever True from a box in my 'zine cupboard' as I thought it was long overdue for a re-read!

It's wonderful of Elizabeth Holden and Marcelle to make the zine available to so many people. I hope new readers enjoy it as much as I have done!

Fantastic! Although you shouldn't do this to me. *bg* My confuddled brain thought I had clicked on one of the stories in your previous post, which are usually a good bedtime story for me. However, I became so engrossed in Forever True that before I knew, it was 1 a.m. Was wondering why my eyes were getting sore.

Thank you, EH and Marcelle for making this available. It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for pointing this out and for asking Elisabeth Holden!

It is a fantastic story, I love the way she totally steamrollers just everybody with the fact that Doyle is married.
In my opinion, Bodie is a bit too soft hearted, kinda giving up on Ray because he wouldn´t be happy. That´s not exactly how I see the character of Bodie, I thought he´d be fighting to have Ray for himself, discouvering later on that it wouldn´t work out at all.
And Cowley asking a married man with three children to join the A-Squad? I can´t really picture it, but he´s taking what he can get, no matter the consequences.
On the other hand, the fact that giving up part of what you want yourself for the sake of your loved one really gives me that warm fluffy feeling I crave in stories.
And it was written so wonderful, I kept waiting for Bodie to claim Ray, and I was sure Ray would give in, but then everything went well and all lived happily ever after.

All in all a wonderful story, full of the oh no´s you promised!!
