[identity profile] byslantedlight.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] ci5hq

After our recent venture into poorly lads territory, which is a rather depressing thing to think about, in fulfillment of a promise to [livejournal.com profile] jaycat92, and following on from [livejournal.com profile] gideonbd77's amusement at the idea of the Pros were-budgie fic (which for the life of me I can't find again - I think I sporadically block that sort of thing from my mind... *g*) I thought it might be a good idea to follow up recent posts with a brand new storylist post - Prosfic that makes us laugh, or smile in gentle amusement, or even close our eyes and wrinkle our noses and wish we weren't amused by the thought of, for example, Bodie as a garden gnome...

I've a few of my favourites, just off the top of my head to start us off... do you have any to add? Which Pros stories most amuse you?

As much as some folks don't care for it, I think Fly on the Wall is hilarious.

The Gift of the Moggy by The Hag (to go with the Furball! *g*)
and
Home Improvement by Brenda K (not my usual flavour, but funny)
and there's one called
Purgatory by PRZed which is quite funny.

but my top two would definitely be Moggy and Furball, with Tape Delay to follow *g*

Sorry to depress everyone with the previous story search!
For humor, I'll start with So Much for Wishes http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/3/somuch.html
and Babysitter Boogie http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/3/babysitterboogie.html

I can only think of one at the moment, and it's Barbra Thomas' Eye of the Beholder (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/9/eyeof.html).

Also, I am so tempted to Photoshop Bodie's head onto a garden gnome. And I can't wonder how a gnome-sized Bodie and a human-sized Doyle shag without laughing out loud! If anyone's read that story before, tell me gnome!Bodie lives in a tiny cottage in Doyle's garden and does sun-worshiping exercises every morning. Please?

A Day in the Country (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/9/aday.html) by Barbara Thomas is another that makes me laugh. I love 'happy lads loving each other' stories!

I also like Moggy and Furball. Most of my favourites have already been mentioned but I quite like these ones as well:

Bodie's Christmas Dream (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/8/bodieschristmas.pdf) by The Hag / The Simhag

Enlargement by The Simhag (from Motet Opus 4 in B & D).

ilads (http://hatstandfic.net/viewstory.php?sid=578&chapter=1) by angelci5

I'm sure there was another story similar to ilads based on text messaging between the lads, but I can't found it. It doesn't help when I can't remember the title, author or where I have read it!

There is another texting/voicemail story with the lads, but I don't remember the title. I remember Bodie whining through most of it. Was it set around Christmas time? There was snow and a traffic jam...?

If you want the 'old school' alternative, give M Fae Glasgow's My Beautiful Launderette (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/10/mybeautiful.pdf) (PDF) a try. I thought it was quite funny and very much the lads!

(Actually, I'd recommend most of her work, although some people might find her stories too dark or angsty.)
