Title: A Christmas Story
Author: DVS
Link to story: http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/2/thechristmas.html
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle

The lads are on a boring obbo in a freezing flat, something they've done a hundred times before. But there's a difference this time; it happens to be Christmas, and both lads find that their thoughts are straying in new directions.

(NB: Although the Circuit Archive lists this as THE Christmas Story, my paper circuit copy is entitled A Christmas Story, and as I'm assuming that the paper circuit version predates the online version I'm sticking with it. And anyway, I like it better.*g*)

Yes! I've always enjoyed this one, along with its sequel. Its a "day in the life" sort of story, but with an emotional arc that is very satisfying. Thank you for the reminder to read it! *g*

One of the very first Christmas stories I read on the Circuit Archive, and one of my favourites.

I wasn't aware there was a sequel... please could you tell me the name of the sequel and whether it is available online?

Ack, no, that's just me being confused. Age, you know. *g* The one with the sequel is "Under the Tree"--where they are also on stake out before Christmas. *g* I like both, but "A Christmas Story" is my favorite. Now that I, um, remember it properly... *g*

That was new to me, and most enjoyable *g*.

On the one hand I thought it dragged on a bit with not much happening (what was going on in the house they were watching?), but on the other it was a good slow but persistent erosion of their mutually dense layers of denial that the other could want the same thing.

That sounds nice. Although DVS is one of my favourite authors, this has completely escaped my notice. Thanks for the rec. :-)

Yes. I enjoy DVS, but this story is new to me. Possibly because I only read Christmas stories at Christmas time?

Anyway, looking forward to this one!

Oh my ... that's a glorious read. I enjoyed the tense build-up, as the lads braved their emotions. Thanks for the rec.

This is one of my favorite Pro's Christmas stories. Love Doyle's wanting to help out the old man, his sadness at Christmas's and birthday's past and the lads finally admitting their feelings. Wonderful choice!
