Some of you might remember this from our very first Christmas celebration, Discovered in the Mistletoe. It's a story, which I feel makes it legitimate reccing for The Reading Room at Christmas, but there's more to it than that. And as it's written by Josey it's also funny, rather clever, and all about our lads - and the rest of CI5, in this case... *g*

Oh, this brings back wonderful memories of that very first Dialj Christmas project - the novelty, the talent, the cleverness, the sheer joy of it all. Josey's was one of my favorite contributions that year. I adore the way she used the screencaps in amongst all the graphic effects. Wonderful!

The icon I'm using is a manip I did for that same Christmas project.

A very clever agent is that Josey.

In my mind the lads were stranded on a snowy road and had to leg it back to civilization. (Poor Bodie isn't exactly dressed for the weather, though.) Either that or they were stranded while on holiday. In keeping with that theme, brenk's caption was just perfect. ;-)

Well, I don't follow manga but I have friends who do... Japanese 'comic strip' style of telling stories, particularly romantic ones, rather than the Western tradition of comic strips having a comic/cartoon element. I seem to remember something about it at that Leicester day. Yaoi (which I can never spell) is the subgenre of 'boylove', and very popular among Japanese women - and increasingly so here. I suspect Pros is perfect for the genre and it is perhaps surprising there isn't more of it about - though maybe the artists all go for vidding?

Oh I do know what manga is, just not in enough detail to know whether you'd class Josey's comic strip as manga... You know it (Josey's) does have the comic element that for me makes it a traditional "comic strip" though... *g*

There is some manga/yaoi style Pros artistry around (Minori_k has often used it the style in Dialj posts - and in fact she designed the banner and cover for the Dialj Christmas special a few years ago (check out the Dialj user info page). I seem to remember having a discussion with someone about portrayal of emotions in yaoi/manga too - not Minori, but someone who's not posted much for a while... I dunno about expecting more of it around though, I think Pros is quite a traditional fandom in some ways, and I know alot of people like the less-smooth, more detailled drawings/art of the lads, so I'm not sure how well a huge influx of manga style Pros would go down... That said, you know there's a Japanese zine, that can be found via the OpLewC website? It's been a while since I looked at it, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some there...

Yes, it does have that comic element. I don't know the zine you mention - must investigate! I personally find comic strips hard to read - I have focussing problems that make them very blurry for me to follow. But I did like that one!
