Feels like I've not posted here for ages... but [livejournal.com profile] jaycat92 mentioned in a post this morning that she was surprised there wasn't more Prosfic set in the US - and I effectively said - why?! *g*, cos I've always thought that there's lots, and often with a flimsy excuse, and then I thought... maybe we should make a list, and see if there really is!

And then I thought - what about Prosfic set in other countries too? Cos I love Prosfic set outside London - what about Prosfic set outside the whole country?! Game for Monday?! So... below is what I've got so far - I know I'll miss loads, so if anyone can think of others, I'll add them to the list! (But with both lads themselves, rather than crossovers...) *g*

oh thanks!

When I saw your post, I thought, oh noes! there's lots of fic set in the US I was higgerant of? But maybe not...

What made me think of the question was that I once half-read a fic about an older and rather lonely Bodie doing some sort of detective (?CI5) work involving a down-at-heel teenager in ?Las Vegas, with the theme that he hoped the kid wouldn't screw up her life the way he had his. It made me think, the lads in the US could be more fun than this!

For France, there's "Voice-Over" (I just re-read that and note EOS carefully doesn't name the port.)

I'm pretty certain I've read one set in Czekoslovakia, but hell if I know where I saw it, what it was called, or anything else. There was a lot of walking around and one of them was cold... or injured.

Lol, I'll name that tune in one!

Does Oz count?!

One that is (at least the first part) set in the States is Brenda Antrim's Reunions (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/1/reunions.html)

Also adding to Pros/Sentinel/Chief US settings: An Encounter in Cascade (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/11/anencounter.html) by Meridian.

There's also a New York-set fic where Bodie gets awfully jealous and accuses Doyle of going off to meet Ann, but I can't remember the name at the moment. Will have a think.

For Africa I believe you're thinking of Morgan Dawn's Between Dreams We Lie Awake (http://thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/6/betweendreams.html). It's definitely not The Two Trees. I haven't read Between Dreams but a quick perusing of it on the CA shows foreign settings in Africa, Chile, Laos, Nicaragua, Indonesia, Mexico, and Paraguay.

Then there's Maiden Wyoming's zine novel Journey West set in the U.S.

Vicky Hauck has a historical au on the Proslib cd set in the U.S. just after the American Civil war (believe it or not!) called Crossroads.

Gloria Lancaster's On Guard...? (don't think I see it mentioned above, but apologies if you have it already!)

How about fics in Scotland, Ireland and Wales... or are they too close to home?

ETA Asymphototropic's Contrary Virtue which is also Africa, iirc.

Just remembered another one set in Russia - Survival Run by Kathy Keegan. It's #4 in the Affairs of the Heart series and is in Cross My Heart 12. It isn't online, unfortunately.

There's another one set in Russia but I can't recall the title. Bodie has to rescue Doyle from a KGB prison.

Another story set in France is Forever and Ever...Amen by Sybil McKay. It's in the zine Liasons 1; I don't think it's online or on the cd.

Netherlands (Amsterdam) - Never Forget (http://web.archive.org/web/20030217043632/www.btinternet.com/~Tavaran/Tellme/never.htma) by Tavaran.

This is fun!

I remembered some more, though most of them are in zines. Still, for completeness' sake...

Africa (parts of the story take place in both northern and central Africa though I forget which countries) - Absolution by Angelfish

the Caribbean islands (the lads are cruising them in their boat) - Ice, Wind, and Fire by Jane, #7 in the Rainy Days series, a zine novel.

Greece (an unnamed island) - Timeo Danaos Et Dona Ferentis by EPS, paper circuit

Germany (?); it's a Roman AU set somewhere in western Europe but not Britain - Middle Journey and Homeward Bound by Frankie on the Proslib cd.

Texas, U.S.A. - The Trip by M.E. Hand in the zine Delicious Agony, Vulgar Ecstasy

I believe there are at least a couple of stories set in the American old west but I don't know their names.
