Alexandra – the nursery slope for beginners learning to negotiate Pros fanfic: not too demanding or off-putting, and serving to encourage us to try the more challenging and ultimately more satisfying stuff. That’s my impression, anyway, from the many and various (and all interesting) responses to "Love in a Faithless Country" by Alexandra.

Thank you very much, [livejournal.com profile] firlefanzine, for the recc.

The fic for this week is Kitty Fisher "The Chameleon’s Dish":
http://www.devinemadness.com/kittyfisher/dish.htm

recced by [livejournal.com profile] inlovewithboth, here, on the 14th.

Then it's:

21 January
Victoria Racklyft "All the Queen's Men"
http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/13/allthe.html

28 January
HG "Strange Days Indeed"
on the Proslib CD.

both recced by [livejournal.com profile] sc_fossil

4 February
Angelfish "All These Years"
http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/16/allthese.html

recced by [livejournal.com profile] jgraeme2007

The next date for a recc is in a month’s time, and it would be great to have a little something for the Valentine’s Day weekend. Not necessarily set on Valentine’s Day, but you know… romantic. Any suggestions?
yay!

Hmmn - trying to think of "romantic" fics... depends what you call "romantic", I guess... to me the lads are eternally romantic, just by existing, so... *g*

You know what it would be nice to see, though - fic that's not been recced here before! Of the above list, all but one have already been discussed her at [livejournal.com profile] ci5hq - they're already tagged under our Index, at least once... It'd be nice if we could find some less "common"/well-known stories to rec... (I know, that means me too... I'll think on about the romantic one! *g*

Of the four you've listed above, All the Queen's Men is the only one that hasn't been recced/reviewed before, here at CI5hq.

It's not that it's not good to have comparative reviews, cos it really is - the more the merrier, but I've noticed that alot of the review we have are repeats of ones that are often discussed. I don't think it's down to you to moderate that in any way though, it's the reviewers who are choosing to review the same fics over and over again! But it's a longevity thing too - depends how long the people participating have been around lj etc, how often they've seen the fics reviewed...

Still thinking about a "romantic" fic - though there's one mentioned below (don't know if it's a volunteer to rec - suppose it doesn't have to be though, you could just throw it open for discussion - I bet we'd all come!)

All These Years has been reviewed twice already, for example; Chameleon's Dish and Strange Days Indeed once - plus I think they've all got reviews at Alijot's, and are included in a couple of the Rec50 lists... Which of course not everyone will see, but... it'd be nice to see some other stories reviewed, I have to say!

I know, I now, I could always volunteer, eh? *g*

Could you amend my rec link to reflect that HG has just posted Strange Days Indeed to the Automated Hatstand. This way more folks can now read! *does happy dance*
