Pssst... Is The Snowman with the Dark Coat a death fic?
I've read the last few sentences, just to make sure - and now I'm not so sure!
Is it all clear when you read the whole story?

Hello, sorry for delay in replying.

No it isn't a death fic. I checked it with the person who recced it. She is positive it isn't death fic, and that is also how I read it. In short, it looks scary, but there is no reason for a reader to think he isn't going to survive, unless they want to read it that way and really wallow in grief! (Don't want to say more in case of spoiling. Hopefully we can talk about this when we discuss the fic.)

We don't think a warning is needed this time, and you can read the rest of the story with confidence.

Sorry. I'm not losing interest -- just in the final brutal stretch of this year's projects. But that all ends in December. So I'd like to volunteer for December 10th. Kate MacLean's Scenes From the Edge is going up on the Automated Hatstand in the next day or so, and I'd like to lead a discussion on that. I'll post the link as soon as I've got it.

D'you know, with the absence of reccs coming in and the busy-ness of Christmas approaching, I was going to have a recess in December. Last night, I had the idea of punctuating it with a Reading Room Christmas party for 17 December.

This is excellent. Now we can go continuously up to 17 December, then take a short break until the New Year.
