It's not a contradiction at all, but an exchange of trust to me
It's an exchange of trust which seems to require one person giving in to the other, allowing himself to be dominated and harmed because he knows that is what his partner wants - that is the thing which is required of him - rather than some other way of asserting control over his life. And maybe this is what some people might find strange: that to show love you have to exact pain.
Man, it was so interesting to hear people who actually practice this lifestyle discuss it.
After people have striven for equality for decades I'm trying to get a handle on this! Maybe it's only when you've enjoyed equality that you can afford to indulge in other kinds of relationships, or, dare I say it, mind-games?
