One more week until December...

...and it's time to ask this question again... *g*

In 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011 and in 2010 we've had December/winter/Christmas/etc. themed recs, via a calendar of posting days for the December countdown to Christmas - a Pros fic recommendation is made, around a Christmas/December theme, every day in December, counting down to Christmas. Anyone can join in (days are claimed in a post I'll make next), and remind people of the fic that keeps them cheerful through the dark months (or the bright, blazing hot months *waves to Southern hemisphere and elsewhere that doesn't shiver*).

Recs can be long or short, and the stories can be long or short, it doesn't matter - if you've got a favourite snowy-Christmas drabble, then it can be recced in the calendar, on a day that you choose. All we need is a link to the story (or to where it can be found), and a heading for your post, and we're away. Reccers can also post anything they like to accompany the story recommendation - pictures, music, thoughts about the story, an invitation to discussion, the drink they'd best recommend to accompany the read... *g*

The idea is based on the Hatstander's Pros Advent Calendar of many years ago, posted by then-Nell Howell, and much missed (well by me, at least!) Apart from being Pros fics, the only rule for what is recced is that it must be Christmas/December seasonal in some way!

It does occur to me that we might want to ring the changes a little, after so many years - people have noted in previous years that it tends to be the same stories that are recced over and over again. I wondered if maybe tweaking it to a Guess the Seasonal Prosfic might be fun. There would be a post every day as usual, but they would give clues to the story being recced, and we could guess which one it is. When someone's guessed right, or at the end of the day (depending on when a post is made/how much time and energy you have), the reccer could edit their post to add the story title, author and link - and maybe a big hurrah to anyone who got it.

Or maybe someone else has an idea that might ginger us up a bit in the Prosfic Advent? Or maybe the traditional format is traditional because it's much loved, and I should shush...? *g*

Finally - in 2015 we had our own special banner that people could use when posting if they wanted, made by dollidaydream, and it brightened up my flist beautifully when it popped up to accompany a rec. I don't suppose anyone would like to make a banner for this year (if people do want a fic advent calendar again)...? *g*
