Criterion is a company known to filmsnobs aficionados as (usually) putting out high-quality DVD and Blu Ray releases of (usually) highly regarded films, along with some really interesting extras.
Criterion's closest UK parallel is probably Masters of Cinema, which is just as, er, serious. (And yes, I have bought DVDs / Blu Rays from both. ;-))
