It’s my turn today, and later than I intended for I realized I couldn’t post to a community from my office computer anymore. In retaliation I left my work earlier to do it quietly at home (you must have your priorities!)

Being me, I first looked for a Bodie/Cowley story but they are rare (as all the B/C stories are anyway), most of them not on line or, for the few that are, written in a decidedly humorous manner that’s not in accordance with my current mood, given the very sad event of late.

So I picked two Cowley-centered fics, between which I couldn’t choose, because I like both equally but, since they are built on exactly the same theme, I don’t think I’m cheating.

First : The Eve of Destruction by Istia : http://archiveofourown.org/works/3398 and

Second : Benevolence by Brenda K : http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/1/benevolence.html

In both stories Cowley make some surprising discoveries about the nature of his best team’s personal relations and habits and, in both cases, he follows the path that, he thinks, is the more faithful to the true spirit of Christmas.

"Such A Night" by Maddalia

Doyle receives some sad news at Christmas and the way the lads deal with it is perfectly “them”. The story is bittersweet and real and very satisfying. (There’s a terrific scene with Bodie and Ray’s older brother discussing Bodie’s relationship with Ray. Pure Bodie!)

Like real life, not everything is perfect, or the way they’d each like it to be, but there is a hint of promise and as Maddalia writes, “At this time of year, of all times, there is hope in uncertainty.”

This is a very moving read. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Enjoy: Such a Night
