I love this beginning! :-)

You are thrown right into the action. It's thrilling and you feel pity for Bodie, you want to comfort him, and Doyle does as much as he can do under these circumstances. You smile a bit when you read 'Even Bodie had limits', and you absorb the few bits of information you get:
"Barn," he said shortly, "about a kilometre. Can you make it?".

You want to know what has happened, you want to know what they will do next, - you want to read on.

For me, something like this is the perfect start for a story!
