Reading Room - Theme I - Science Fiction
Jan. 23rd, 2011 02:57 pmIt being well after Sunday morning over here, I've closed the story poll for this theme, and the results are as follows - the timings chosen according to length of story, because these are all on the long side and Thursday isn't far away... *g*
Thursday 27 Jan - Free Trader by Debra Hicks (58 pages) - led by
killedmedead
Thursday 3 Feb - Of Angels and Angles by Sarah K (82 pages) - led by
merentha13
Thursday 10 Feb - Suitable Gravity by DVS (91 pages) - led by
tango65
Thursday 17 Feb - Echo and Broadcast Difficulties by Ellis Ward (99 + 58 = 157 pages)
Page counts are simply via my conversion from online fic to Open Office default margins Times New Roman 12pt pages - don't worry about missing pages etc if yours come out differently! Also, I've just included the quickest links I found, but a search will show that most of these stories are available elsewhere online if you prefer another format to Circuit Archive, such as Hatstand Archive.
The next step is to ask for volunteers to "lead" the stories. This simply involves posting on the specific day to introduce the story and hopefully to encourage and keep the discussion going by responding to the comments people make - though you certainly don't have to be involved in all parts of the discussion, because people go off at all sorts of tangents depending on who they're talking to. It's all generally just supposed to be interesting and good fun, not stressful, so volunteers will probably be people who enjoy chatting about stories anyway - which I think we all do, or we wouldn't be here... *g*
I'll add to the list above the first person to volunteer for each story (though if people do want to team up to do the review/chat etc, there's no reason why they shouldn't - although only one person can physically make the main post, of course) and then it's just a question for most of us of reading and waiting for next Thursday...
So - anyone? *g*
