yeah, for me they have to be described physically as Bodie/Doyle (LC/MS).
Ooh yes, I couldn't accept a Bodie and Doyle who didn't look like, err, well Bodie and Doyle! *g* I don't mind small changes though if the circumstances/era requires it, like weight loss, long/er hair or facial hair.
Actually, their physical appearance is really important to me in a fic - even though I know what they look like (obviously! *g*) I still need to read about their physical attributes in a story. There's a well-known story which everyone else in fandom loves, (I think I'm the only person who doesn't like it), but one of the reasons it doesn't work for me, is that although Doyle is beautifully described throughout, I just get absolutely no sense of Bodie physically in it. So I agree, the way they look is an intrinsic part of "them", I think.
